Dog Friendly Beaches in Florida

Jupiter Dog Beach is home to one of Florida's best off-leash beach areas. Dogs are free to roam a designated section of the beach running along A1A near Ocean Cay Park in Jupiter, FL. This 2.5-mile stretch of pet-friendly beach is located from beach marker #26 at Marcinski Road, going north to beach marker #57 (at the Carlin Park property line) and welcomes well-behaved, obedient dogs.

One of the many pet-friendly beaches of Sanibel Island, Gulfside City Beach Park is located near a City of Sanibel and Federal nature preserve. This Florida beach is also home to threatened and endangered nesting shorebirds and sea turtles during much of the year. Dogs must be kept on a leash (maximum 8 feet) at all times, and owners are required by law to clean up after their pets. There are picnic tables, wash stations, restrooms, and parking for an hourly fee.

Pups are welcome to join you at Vilano Beach, a pet-friendly beach northeast of St. Augustine, FL on the A1A Scenic and historical byway. Dogs should be on a leash at all times. Owners are required to properly dispose of all pet waste immediately.

Bowman's Beach Park is a beautiful, secluded beach in Sanibel, FL featuring dog-friendly hiking trails. Park amenities include picnic tables, grills, bathrooms and a pavilion. Dogs are allowed on leash. Please note, there is a parking fee.

Frank B. Butler County Park is a dog-friendly coastal park providing direct beach access in St. Augustine, FL. Visitors will find a parking area, picnic tables, restrooms, and two shaded pavilions. The park is not a fenced area for pets, and dogs must be leashed at the park and when enjoying the beach.

Smyrna Dunes Park is a dog-friendly attraction in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Leashed dogs are welcome at this lovely inlet which also includes showers, bathrooms and plenty of parking. This park has five ecosystems represented within it, elevated boardwalks, picnic pavilions, nature trails, an observation tower and more. Pets are not allowed on the elevated park boardwalks after 10am.

Brohard Paw Park has a fenced dog play area featuring separate sections for small and large dogs, which leads to Sarasota County's only dog-friendly beach. Located in Venice, FL, pups are invited to enjoy a variety of park amenities, including drinking fountains and showers. There are also water fountains, picnic tables and benches. Please observe the posted signage stating where the dog beach ends.

From sunrise to sunset, leashed pups are welcome to join you on the 0.5-mile, pet-friendly stretch of sand from Rockefeller Drive to Milsap Road in Ormond Beach, FL. Please clean up after your pet and be sure to bring their vaccination records.

Bonita Beach Dog Park is a Lee County dog beach located along the edge of Lover's Key State Park in Fort Myers Beach, FL. This off-leash beach allows dogs to run around and play in the shallow, calm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. There are no fences, so be sure to supervise your dogs at all times.
