Dog Friendly Beaches in Florida

Jupiter Dog Beach is home to one of Florida's best off-leash beach areas. Dogs are free to roam a designated section of the beach running along A1A near Ocean Cay Park in Jupiter, FL. This 2.5-mile stretch of pet-friendly beach is located from beach marker #26 at Marcinski Road, going north to beach marker #57 (at the Carlin Park property line) and welcomes well-behaved, obedient dogs.

Brohard Paw Park has a fenced dog play area featuring separate sections for small and large dogs, which leads to Sarasota County's only dog-friendly beach. Located in Venice, FL, pups are invited to enjoy a variety of park amenities, including drinking fountains and showers. There are also water fountains, picnic tables and benches. Please observe the posted signage stating where the dog beach ends.

One of the many pet-friendly beaches of Sanibel Island, Gulfside City Beach Park is located near a City of Sanibel and Federal nature preserve. This Florida beach is also home to threatened and endangered nesting shorebirds and sea turtles during much of the year. Dogs must be kept on a leash (maximum 8 feet) at all times, and owners are required by law to clean up after their pets. There are picnic tables, wash stations, restrooms, and parking for an hourly fee.

Pups are welcome to join you at Vilano Beach, a pet-friendly beach northeast of St. Augustine, FL on the A1A Scenic and historical byway. Dogs should be on a leash at all times. Owners are required to properly dispose of all pet waste immediately.

Bowman's Beach Park is a beautiful, secluded beach in Sanibel, FL featuring dog-friendly hiking trails. Park amenities include picnic tables, grills, bathrooms and a pavilion. Dogs are allowed on leash. Please note, there is a parking fee.

Leashed dogs are allowed on the north section only of Clearwater North Beach, which starts at Somerset Street in Clearwater, FL. Bring your pooch for a stroll along the sand and in the surf, as long as they are well-behaved and cleaned up after. Although there's no parking north of Somerset, public meter parking can be found on Mandalay Ave, south of Somerset.

Stuart Beach is a dog-friendly beach in Stuart, FL, where Fido is welcome to come put his paws in the sand. Leashed dogs can join their humans on this scenic beach, but please note that dogs are only permitted outside of the lifeguard areas.

Sarasota Boat Tours offer dog-friendly charters for an unforgettable experience on the crystal clear waters surrounding Sarasota, FL. Frank B. Butler County Park is a dog-friendly coastal park providing direct beach access in St. Augustine, FL. Visitors will find a parking area, picnic tables, restrooms, and two shaded pavilions. The park is not a fenced area for pets, and dogs must be leashed at the park and when enjoying the beach.

The Dog Park Beach at Fort De Soto Park in St. Petersburg, FL, features two separate fenced areas so both large and small dogs can enjoy off-leash fun. It also has dog showers for hot days. The rest of the park allows leashed dogs, except for the beach areas. There's a designated dog beach area at the far southwest corner of the dog park.

Smyrna Dunes Park is a dog-friendly attraction in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Leashed dogs are welcome at this lovely inlet which also includes showers, bathrooms and plenty of parking. This park has five ecosystems represented within it, elevated boardwalks, picnic pavilions, nature trails, an observation tower and more. Pets are not allowed on the elevated park boardwalks after 10am.

Haulover Park in Miami Beach, FL, features a bark park as well as a designated dog-friendly beach area. The bark park, located near the south picnic area, features a fenced section for dogs under 35 lbs and one for larger dogs. Additional amenities include shade trees, picnic tables, drinking fountains and doggie waste stations. The dog-friendly beach area invites pups to play off leash between lifeguard tower #2 and #3 only, accessible through parking lots #3 and #4. Dogs must be leashed outside of the designated beach area.

From sunrise to sunset, leashed pups are welcome to join you on the 0.5-mile, pet-friendly stretch of sand from Rockefeller Drive to Milsap Road in Ormond Beach, FL. Please clean up after your pet and be sure to bring their vaccination records.

Bonita Beach Dog Park is a Lee County dog beach located along the edge of Lover's Key State Park in Fort Myers Beach, FL. This off-leash beach allows dogs to run around and play in the shallow, calm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. There are no fences, so be sure to supervise your dogs at all times.

Canova Dog Beach in Indialantic, FL, is home to Brevard County's only dog-friendly beach. This 9.1-acre community beach park includes a small pavilion, grill, picnic shelter, benches along crossover, restrooms, drinking fountain and outside showers. One of the three dune crossovers is wheelchair accessible. Dogs must be leashed and wear tags showing their current license and vaccinations. There is no cost to use the Dog Beach, however owners must pick up after their pets. Waste bags and proper receptacles are available.

Walton Rocks Dog Beach is a 24-acre off-leash dog beach in Jensen Beach, FL, where canines can romp in the sand and surf. The park also features covered picnic tables, restrooms and plenty of room to roam.
