Dog Friendly Hiking Trails in Kooskia, ID

Dog-friendly Liberty Lake Regional Park, located in Liberty Lake, WA, is one of the largest county parks in the state of Washington with nearly 3,000 acres of wetlands, lakeshore, montane forest and irrigated turf. The space has play equipment, shelters, a BBQ area, a campground and seven miles of trails. The Liberty Lake Loop Trail, specifically, is a 6.5-mile hike that will take about four hours to complete with Fido. Pups must remain leashed.

Bring Fido on a hike of the dog-friendly Wallowa Lake Trailhead in Joseph, OR. There are horse rentals, a State Park, restaurants, lodging, and picnic facilities within 0.5 miles of the trailhead. Many wildflowers can be seen along the trails nearby such as mountain bluebells, forget-me-nots, paintbrush and columbine. There are fishing opportunities near Six Mile Meadows where the river flows a little slower.

Nez Perce National Historical Park in Lapwai, ID, is a pet-friendly recreation area spanning four states, offering an endless opportunity for visitors to partake in activities. The Weiser River National Recreation Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Kamiak Butte County Park is a dog-friendly landmark in Palouse, WA. Fido is welcome to explore over five miles of forested trails that offer panoramic views of the region. The park also features picnic tables, restrooms and an amphitheater.

Ponderosa State Park in McCall, ID, is pet friendly. The centerpiece of this popular park is Payette Lake, a clear body of water high in the mountains. You and Fido are welcome to enjoy the surrounding hiking trails that weave around sections of the Payette River through meadows among the huge pine trees. There are a number of cabins and campsites dotted around the picturesque park as well. Fido is welcome to join you around the park, but is not allowed to enter the designated swimming area.

Dogs are welcome at Dworshak State Park in Lenore, ID, where anglers and hikers alike can enjoy a varied pristine landscape made up of pine trees, meadows, mountains, and lakes. You can bring Fido with you to enjoy the pet-friendly trails that weave around the three sections that make up the park: Freeman Creek, Three Meadows Group Camp, and Big Eddy Lodge and Marina. There are also some camping opportunities if you are looking to extend your stay in the park.

Coeur d' Alene Parkway is a dog-friendly state park with plenty of recreational opportunities for you and your pooch in Coeur d'Alene, ID. The pet-friendly paved parkway lies along the north shore of Lake Coeur d' Alene and is 5.7 miles in length. The parkway is part of the North Idaho Centennial Trail, a multi-use recreational trail system. When you're tired of walking, you can take a break at one of the roadside picnic tables or benches on the banks of the lake that overlook the crystal clear water and the surrounding pine forests.

Coeur d'Alenes Old Mission State Park in Cataldo, ID, welcomes leashed pups to explore the park grounds with their owners. This local recreation area features a range of visitor amenities, including fishing, bird watching, hiking and more. Note that dogs aren't permitted inside any buildings.

Hells Gate State Park is a dog-friendly attraction in Lewiston, ID. This park is located at the Snake River's downstream entrance to Hells Canyon, which is the deepest canyon in North America. Fido isn't allowed in the water, but leashed dogs can join you on any of the trails that weave around the picturesque canyon floor. There is an entrance fee to visit.

Spring Valley Reservoir is a dog-friendly reservoir and trail in Troy, ID. Iller Creek Unit within Dishman Hills Conservation Area is a pet-friendly passive recreation spot in Spokane, WA. Your leashed pup is welcome to explore the 966.62 acres with you. Activities include hiking, bird watching and cross-country skiing.

Lone Lake Trail is a 4.5-mile, pet-friendly hike in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest in Mullan, ID, that will take about 3 hours to complete with Fido. Before setting out to hike this trail you will want to check if there are current logging projects along it. The hike starts on a road that angles to the north before turning back south and running alongside Willow Creek. From here follow the signs. Eventually the path converts from a road, into an actual trail.

Heart and Pearl Lakes Trail is an 8-mile, pet-friendly hike in Lolo National Forest in Superior, MT, that will take about 5 hours to complete with Fido. Stay cool in the forest as you head up the valley on this creekside trail. A century ago this area was consumed by a wildfire; now you will see grasses and shrubs on the once barren land next to the forest.

Crystal Lake Trail is a 3.5-mile, pet-friendly hike in the Lolo National Forest in St. Regis, MT, that will take about 3 hours to complete with Fido. This short hike will take you up a steep trail that is not too difficult, but will provide a good workout. There is ample shade and water along the way if you decide to take a break. Take a swim in Crystal Lake or explore the old mining town.

Indian Cliff Trail is a 3-mile, pet-friendly hike in Heyburn State Park in Plummer, ID, that will take about 2 hours to complete with Fido. Heyburn Park is complete with a nice campgrounds, picnic areas, and a great trail system. You and Fido can explore its 7800 acres of forests, meadows, and lakes.

Puffer Butte is a pet-friendly destination within Field Springs State Park in Anatone, WA. Your leashed pup is welcome to tag along as you hike or go cross-country skiing. Please refer to their website before your outing for any potential closures.

Hazel and Hub Lakes Trail is a 6-mile, pet-friendly hike in the Lolo National Forest in St. Regis, MT, that will take about 4 hours to complete with Fido. Along this trail you will encounter a cedar forest, a scenic waterfall and creek crossings. First you will come to Hazel Lake, which is the larger one. Hub is further along and offers better fishing, swimming and camping.

The Hurricane Creek Trail is a pet-friendly path in Joseph, OR. It's a moderately easy, 24-mile hike in Eagle Cap Wilderness that will take about 2 days to complete with Fido. Cross the natural clear-cut, then enter the lodgepole pine and larch woodland, before finally emerging into a lovely meadow. Please note that a Northwest Forest Pass is required.

The Maxwell Lake Trail is a pet-friendly path in Lostine, OR. It's a moderately easy, 7-mile hike in Eagle Cap Wilderness that will take about 5 hours to complete with Fido. There is a camping area near the trailhead or just set out on your hike straight from the parking lot. Water from Maxwell Creek is available at the beginning of the hike, but you might want to bring some along for the rest of the trail. Please note that a Northwest Forest Pass is required.
