Dog Friendly Hiking Trails in Willimantic, ME

Peaks-Kenny State Park is a pet-friendly lakeside area in Dover-Foxcroft, ME. Located adjacent to Sebec Lake, visitors can indulge in a range of activities, including boating, fishing, swimming, hiking and picnicking in and around the park. The nature preserve also offers trails for you and your pup to get in some exercise. Pets are not allowed on State Park beaches between April 1 and September 30 and dogs should remain on a leash under six feet for the duration of their visit.

Lily Bay State Park is a dog-friendly recreation area in Greenville, ME. Bring Fido along as you discover stunning views across the water of Moose Lake. There is a two-mile walking trail that follows the shoreline between the beach and Rowell Cove campground. Visitors are reminded that no pets are allowed on State Park beaches between April 1 and September 30. Remember to keep Fido leashed and clean up after them.

The Newport/Dover-Foxcroft Rail Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. You and your pooch can enjoy the sights of this 500 ft high natural rock formation on Gulf Hagas: Rim Trail and Pleasant River Tote. Highlights of this varied slice of the A.T. include tumbling waterfalls, idyllic swimming holes for hot dogs to dive into and plenty of pretty lookout points along the way. The whole hike is just over 8 miles, will take around 4-5 hours to complete and is rated moderate. Leashed dogs are welcome.
