7 Bars That Welcome Fido Indoors for New Year's Eve

Posted by Billy Francis

Don’t let the winter weather dampen your spirits or Fido’s fur on New Year’s Eve! These awesome bars welcome canines inside at all times, rain or shine. Without further ado, let’s raise a glass to all the “barktenders” who make socializing with your pup possible during one of the biggest nights of the year.

The Flatstick Pub is more than Kirkland’s only indoor pet-friendly pub. This “diamond in the ruff” is home to a nine-hole mini golf course with water hazards and obstacles. Humans can enjoy a round of golf with their round of beers for $6, with canine caddies teeing off for free. Alternatively, you can try your hand at Duffleboard, a hybrid mini golf and shuffleboard game invented at Flatstick.

The Flatstick Pub is open until after the ball drops on December 31. The Heathman Hotel Kirkland is located within walking distance of the pub. Spend the night and enjoy a bite to eat on the patio at Hearth, the on-site restaurant.

2. The Dog Bar

Sit, stay and drink at The Dog Bar in Charlotte on NYE. This off-leash hangout in the NoDa Arts District welcomes dogs of any breed and size, as long as they are well-behaved, have current vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. The whole bar is fenced in, inviting pups to play in the climate-controlled indoor area. Weather permitting, they can also hang out on the Astroturf-covered patio, which is enclosed and heated in the winter. Annual canine membership is $10.

The Dog Bar is open on December 31 for a memorable New Year’s Eve party. Fuel your night with food truck favorites until 10 p.m., then join the “pawtrons” for a champagne toast and a ball drop with a bucket of balls tossed into the fenced yard at midnight. Hail an Uber to Residence Inn by Marriott Charlotte City Center and snuggle with your pup until 2022.

3. Metazoa Brewing Company

Make your way to Metazoa Brewing Company to celebrate the year’s departure with other dog lovers. The on-site dog park will keep your pooch entertained when the sun’s still shining, before you both head inside when it gets chilly to bask in the warm atmosphere. If Fido’s New Year’s resolution was to give more to charity, he’ll be pleased to know that 5% of Metazoa’s profits are donated to animal & wildlife organizations.

Metazoa Brewing Company is open until 10 p.m. on December 31. Say goodnight and goodbye to the year at the Conrad Indianapolis.

4. 1867 Bar

Named for the year in which Nebraska officially became a state, 1867 Bar has stayed true to its Cornhusker roots. This hip Lincoln hangout regularly showcases live local music and offers regional beers on tap. On the first Sunday of every month, bring Fido to Paws and Draws. This fun-filled event raises money for local rescues and encourages owners to hang out and meet other “dog-sessed” Nebraskans.

1867 Bar will be open on December 31 from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Retire with your furry drinking buddy to the Hyatt Place Lincoln / Downtown - Haymarket, which is conveniently located across the street from a grassy area.

New Year’s Eve doesn’t have to be a late one. Why not start celebrating during the day with off-leash fun at Berkeley Lake Dog Park? Then, make your way to Odyssey Beerwerks in Arvada, just outside Denver. Nala, the official brewery dog, will welcome your pooch inside for early NYE celebrations.

The festivities end at 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, giving your pup plenty of time to hunker down before the “ruff” stuff begins later on. Curl up for the evening at the nearby Comfort Inn Denver West.

6. Boxcar Bar + Arcade

Boxcar Bar + Arcade in Raleigh is on trend with the popular arcade craze that has been sweeping the nation. Bring Fido inside to cheer you on as you try to secure the top score on Pac-Man, Jurassic Park, The Simpsons, Tekken Tag and more. Unfortunately for pups, players will require opposable thumbs to use the joysticks, and pooches must stay on the patio after 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights when the bar gets crowded.

Boxcar Bar + Arcade will be open on December 31 from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m. You might need to return to Boxcar Bar for round two. Luckily, the pet-friendly Residence Inn by Marriott Raleigh Downtown offers a comfortable place to crash nearby.

7. Terrestrial Brewing

If you enjoy creative craft beers, check out Terrestrial Brewing. The brewers at this Cleveland hangout like to experiment, and they also like having pups around. Dogs are allowed in the gated patio as well as inside the tasting room. There's something "Phishy" going on at this industrial-chic bar for New Year's Eve, and merry mutts are invited to the party. Terrestrial is hosting a Live Phish New Year's Eve, with a live streaming of the Madison Square Garden New Years Eve Phish concert followed by a complimentary New Years Eve toast at midnight.

Terrestrial Brewing will be open on December 31 from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. In the early hours of the first day of 2022, Fido can put his dancing paws up at The Kimpton Schofield Hotel.
