That’s right, you heard it here first: Vermont is the most dog-friendly state in the U.S. The Green Mountain State’s incredible outdoor recreation opportunities, welcoming mountain towns and headline-grabbing attractions make it a must-visit destination for dogs and their owners. The highlight for hounds is Dog Mountain in St. Johnsbury, a 150-acre farm that has been transformed into a doggy playscape complete with a Dog Chapel. Four-legged visitors should also spend time exploring The Stowe Recreation Path. Fido can rest his head at The Paw House Inn & Cottages in West Rutland, a hotel that caters entirely to pet parents and their furry companion. Whatever you and your pooch are into, Vermont lays out the red carpet for dogs and their owners.
