My Furry Valentine (Love Letters to the BringFido Office Dogs)

Posted by Billy Francis

You have to really love all dogs to work at BringFido, and every employee has had at least one pet in their lives who has stolen a big chunk of their heart. Even though these pups can’t read a single word and would probably prefer a treat, here is a selection of love letters to the BringFido office dogs written by us, the BringFido employees, to thank them for making our jobs worth doing and enriching our lives with every walk, cuddle and slobbery kiss.

Bagel,

You’re the “pawfect” catch,

The belle of the ball,

Whenever I need you, you answer my call,

You’re my ideal match,

Even when you make a racket,

(Or see a squirrel and try to attack it).

I’d like you to know, just before I say “drop!”

I love you as much as you love tennis balls,

And that’s an awful lot.

My Dearest Boulton,

How did I become so lucky to get to call you mine?

The start of a new chapter when I came across your photo online.

You were the most handsome gentleman I ever did see.

We won’t tell dad that part, since I'm sure he would disagree.

The day we brought you home was the brightest the sun had ever shined.

How did I become so lucky to get to call you mine?

How is it that I have fallen so deeply in love with you?

A furry, little man who snores as loud as a thunderstorm rolling through.

While others may mistake you for sounding like a pig,

Your snorts and grunts are what I adore, along with those brown eyes so big.

With your endless affection and sweet, kind soul so true,

It's easy to see how I have fallen so deeply in love with you.

How can I ever repay you for all that you have given me?

Each day you wake up to greet me as though I'm royalty.

And when I step away for a moment to take care of the day’s tasks,

You run up to me when I return as though far too much time has passed.

Your cuddles and your kisses are the best I could possibly receive.

How can I ever repay you for all that you have given me?

From walks in the park to belly rubs and treats, more than you can bet.

I will always be here for you to make sure every day is your greatest one yet.

With all of my love,

Pam

Conway boy, I'm so thrilled to have found,

You're a funny and happy, handsome hound.

To train you is an enormous feat,

but you're worth the time it will take to complete.

The talking back, the muddy paws,

the hard time you give me when clipping your claws.

You make me laugh, and at times frustrated

I'm so thankful you're mine, I am so elated!

Conway boy, I'm so thrilled to have found,

you're my funny and happy, handsome hound.

Dear Cora,

The past year and a half with you has been quite the journey! From the first day I met you and you were literally bouncing off the walls, I knew that you were going to be a bundle of energy. It's been so much fun teaching you English and watching you learn how to communicate with us so expressively!

You are the joy of my life and I wouldn't trade you for the world. I hope you always keep your unstoppable personality, that you always make friends everywhere you go and that we can keep going on adventures together.

Your Momma, Cienna

Dear Mr. Peabody Coaltrain,

I’ve always loved you. Even when you’ve been a grumpy old man, barking and demanding, I’ve loved you. When you’ve been dramatic and faked illnesses causing hefty vet bills, I’ve loved you. I’ve loved you even when you’ve knocked over the trash can and hidden food in the couch cushions or rolled on dead things outside.

But I’ve especially loved you when you’ve been by my side through big life changes, losses and more. And when you’ve been my co-pilot on road trips, taken big hikes on little legs, and when you walked down the aisle the day we both became Barkers.

I’ve loved you for over 15 years and I’ll love you for the rest of my life Peabody Coaltrain, my one and only Sweet Pea.

What makes you the ultimate valentine?

Is it your floppy ears that can ignore every command to come inside but seem to work just fine when I'm quietly opening a slice of cheese in the middle of the night?

Is it those short little legs that everyone adores but I often find up in the air as you are sprawled out in my spot on the couch that we always fight over?

Is it those big feet that smell like corn chips and absorb every ounce of mud after it rains?

The answer is that it's all of those things because that's what makes you, you!

I love you, Hank Bee, and you'll always be my ultimate valentine!

I'm going on a trip, Crosby and Bodhi don't understand why Mom’s going away.

If she really loved us she’d stay. We love her so much why would she go away? We will wait for her all day.

My Dearest Abbey,

Daylight sneaks through the window at the break of dawn,

But the day doesn’t start until I hear your big yawn.

You get up from my pillow to stretch and spring to your feet,

Ready to go outside and demand something to eat.

Your cute face is always near, you never leave my side,

Always waiting for me to look down and say, “Wanna go for a ride?!”

We’re onto another adventure, not sure where we’re planning to go,

Whether it’s a dog park or a restaurant, we'll find somewhere on BringFido.

You storm into the house when we eventually get back,

And stand near the pantry looking for a snack.

If the weather is nice, we can go for a walk,

I love spending time with you even with your loud bark.

You sprint into the kitchen when I’m preparing your supper,

You devour food like a good little pupper.

Off to bed once again, as your eyes start to close,

The thought comes to my mind, "You rescued me I suppose."

I remember the day we met, Max.

On a day I was here all alone,

someone showed up with you in tow, SURPRISE!

And this became your home.

Your giant ears stood up so tall

but your body was so scrawny.

With your ribcage showing, I had no idea

you’d grow up to be so brawny.

We’d go to the dog park together.

How you loved to play.

Meeting new people, and new pups;

You enjoyed both, either way.

Your brother Logan came to live with us.

The two of you, best friends.

Escape artists though, both of you,

until the bitter end.

Logan crossed The Rainbow Bridge,

but for now we still have each other.

My heart breaks to know your time is drawing near,

so I’ll cherish the time we have left together.

You stole my heart so many years ago.

A friendship by design.

You are my best bud and I want you to know,

I’ll love you for all time.

Dear Donal, Brannagh, Lochy, and Paddy,

Y'all give me a reason to get out of bed (very early) every day!

You make my heart smile daily, and my wallet hurt weekly. Sometimes you look at me and I can see how much you love me, other times, I can see your discontent.

No one ever told me that once I got a Scottie, or four, that my life would change dramatically. That my life would revolve around your happiness, safety and comfort. They also neglected to mention that I would be brainwashed by your continuous stares to do anything you want just to make you happy. That stink eye is a real thing. Or that Scotties are some of the best actors and can pout at the drop of a dime just to make me feel guilty so I hand out treats.

The truth is, despite those characteristics, I adore you, and will serve your every whim with great joy and unconditional love! You are my world! Love,

Mummy xoxoxo

Gidget

I’d give you some sweets

but I know your preferred treat

Isn’t good to eat

I’ll throw you a bash

but I have one thing to ask

Stay out of the trash

Furry friends will come

and you’ll hang out in the sun

Prizes will be won

The present is mine

if you have a lovely time

You’re my Valentine

As you snooze at my feet, peaceful you sleep, paws twitching and tail wagging too

I think about all of the times that were made so much better by you being you

Our trip to the Smokies when everyone said you were the "bestest" girl in Tennessee

Or the trails you're determined to sniff reminding me to stop and admire the trees

You remind me to notice the small things that matter and take in a snuggle or two

The best part about you, my most loyal of friends, is all that makes you, YOU!

Calm, loving, and generous. Anyone who knew Palin loved her. She loved all people, dogs, and especially loved children whom we affectionately called "her cubs." She looked over us with fierce loyalty that we could all learn from. Her gentle, kind demeanor exuded love. She was part of everything including welcoming Parker into the family in 2014. She was a constant light in our lives that has now been dimmed, but the memories will never be. She was my spirit guide, my other half, my mentor, my counselor, and my very best friend.

Until we meet again my dear Palin, it was a life well lived.

Dear Hamcat,

I love you and your tuna breath.

I love how chonky you are and how you love cuddles.

Most of all I love how you sleep above my head at night and get fur all over my pillow and step on my hair.

I really feel the love with that one.

To my most beautiful handsome bo bansome.
