BrewDog's DogHouse Columbus is the “hoppiest place on earth.” A featured attraction in the latest edition of our book, Ruff Guide to the United States, it's the world’s first crowdfunded craft beer hotel. The rooms are located right next to the brewery and DogTap taproom, which means guests wake up every morning to the aromas of barley and hops. The fridges are stocked with BrewDog beers, and breakfast is served downstairs with beer pairings (it’s 5 o'clock somewhere). The King Room is pet friendly and comes with access to a semi-private patio space that’s perfect for late-night bathroom breaks. The froth on top of the beer is the on-campus dog park, a fenced-in play area with agility equipment and an open grassy area for fetch. If you let them know in advance, they’ll even help arrange a "pawty" for your pup's special day.

Fitger’s Inn is the ideal gathering place for dog lovers who adore hoppy beverages. After all, good beer is what made this place. Formerly the site of Fitger's Brewery (listed on the National Register of Historic Places), beer has been brewed here in some form since 1885. Nowadays, the bulk of the brewery building is taken up by the hotel, but Fitger's Brewhouse Brewery and Grille keeps the tradition alive. The facility produces over 1,100 barrels of delicious ales and lagers each year that you can sample with your pooch for company on the pet-friendly patio. As well as a brewery, this historic lakefront hotel is home to a spa, mall, and many restaurants. Your furry fashionista can shop ‘til she drops at most retailers, including A Place for Fido. After browsing the mall, head out for a walk along the shores of Lake Superior on Duluth’s Lakewalk.

The town of Bend is as dog-friendly as they come, and the McMenamins Old St. Francis School in downtown is no different. In 2004, this former Catholic schoolhouse was transformed into a social hub with something for everyone, including a few pubs, a movie theater and a live music venue. What was once the school’s basement lunchroom is now home to the hotel’s very own brewery. While you’re visiting the area, take part in the McMenamins Passport Experience and collect stamps from the places you visit to gain prizes and deals. Mark off having a pint with your pup after your stay at the Old St. Francis School.

Belgium and beer are as synonymous as, well, Belgium and chocolate. The country’s hoppy history is celebrated at Het Anker, a brewery, distillery, brasserie and hotel all rolled into one. The family-owned brewery has been making beer for five generations in the Groot Begijnhof historic quarter of Mechelen. The flagship beer, Gouden Carolus, may have grown in popularity over the years, but the technique and ingredients have stayed true to the traditions of yesteryear. In 1990, Het Anker opened a 3-star hotel within the walls of the brewery, a new concept in Belgium. Dogs are welcome in the hotel and can even join you at the bar, but they’ll have to wait in the room when you dine at the restaurant.

One of the most picturesque hotels on our list, Woodstock Inn Brewery is set against the backdrop of the White Mountains. Although Fido will have to stay in his room when you visit the brewery, you can grab a six-pack and head back to the inn to hang out together. One of the taproom's best-selling beers will surely prove to be Fido’s favorite—The 4000 Footer IPA. This hoppy beverage proudly boasts a Bernese Mountain Dog on the label! Don’t forget to stop by the inn’s store to pick up a bag of dog treats made with spent grains from the beer.

The Neuadd Arms Hotel is located in Llanwrtyd Wells, Britain’s smallest town. Sandwiched between the Cambrian Mountains and the Brecon Beacons in Wales, this is a secluded destination in the Welsh Lake District. It's ideal for travelers with pets who enjoy the outdoors and appreciate a good pint. Half of the hotel's rooms are pet friendly, and Fido is welcome throughout the building except for the restaurant area. The Heart of Wales Brewery is located in the converted derelict stables behind the hotel. This popular six-barrel plant produces a range of light and dark ales as well as seasonal brews. After a beer or two, embark on the Town Loop Walk with your pooch. The 45-minute stroll will take you on a historic tour of the village.

Mother Earth Motor Lodge in Kinston, NC definitely has a throwback vibe. Named after Mother Earth Brewing, its sister company located a few blocks away, this classic motel was once a rest stop for VIP guests like James Brown, the Godfather of Soul. The brewery felt the motel, a National Historic Building, deserved to "get on the good foot" once more. The lodge features 45 vintage rooms with several pet-friendly options. While you’re visiting, spend an afternoon with your pup at nearby Neuseway Nature Park before heading to Mother Earth Brewing’s dog-friendly patio on Heritage Street for a pint of Park Day Pilsner.

To experience the epic scenery of British Columbia with a beer in hand and your best friend by your side, look no further than Howe Sound Inn & Brewing Company. This cozy 20-room hotel is located in downtown Squamish, BC, offering incredible vistas of The Chief, Mamquam Mountain and the Tantalus Mountain Range. Accompany the view with a fresh brew from Howe Sound Brewery, located on-site. The expert brewers produce classic beers and creative new styles, including a wide selection of ales, lagers and stouts on draft. The 4-star Hotel zum Erdinger Weissbrau is located in downtown Erding, where the world-famous Erdinger Weissbier originates. This well-known Bavarian specialty can be sampled firsthand in the gorgeous garden of the brewery hotel. Pair your beer with authentic local cuisine and enjoy a fine meal in the company of your canine connoisseur, who will be willing to sample anything that might drop his way. For more than 130 years, the Weissbier has been produced at this very location, so you can enjoy a cold pint safe in the knowledge that it has only traveled a short distance to get to you. While you’re touring this historic town, take your dog for a stroll in Stadtpark Erding. A winding pathway will lead you past unique children’s playgrounds and striking wooden constructions.

The Norwich Inn started life as a stagecoach tavern where travelers to New England could rest their weary legs, including President James Monroe in 1817.
