Midwest Dachshund Rescue's 2015 Cross Town Bark Around

WHAT: 2015 “Cross Town Bark Around” social and fundraiser presented by Midwest Dachshund Rescue (MWDR) and sponsored by Veterinary Specialty Center. WHEN: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2015; Doxie Dash Wiener Dog Races start at 12:30 p.m. WHERE: DuPage County Fairground Exhibition Hall, 2015 W. Manchester Rd., Wheaton, Illinois. All activities, except for the wiener dog races, are inside air-conditioned buildings. WHO: Friendly leashed dachshunds, dachshund mixes and their families and friends are invited. Dachshund lovers without dogs are also welcome. TICKETS: $5 for adults and kids age 13 and older. Advance registration is required for the wiener dog races at www.mwdr.org. . HIGHLIGHTS: Doxie Dash Wiener Races; Doxie Scent Trail; costume contest; talent contest; raffles and silent auctions featuring Cubs and White Sox tickets, theme park passes, dining gift cards, overnight hotel stays and more; best peanut butter licker contest; Doxie General Store; quilt raffle; bake sale; nail trims; photos with the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile Pedal Car; Doxie MidWay; Beanie Baby Doxie Race Track; Doxie Toy Pool and a Win a Bath for a Buck. WHY: All proceeds benefit rescued dachshunds whose veterinary care, spaying and neutering, food, medication and other needs prior to adoption are funded by MWDR. MWDR is a 501 (c) (3), all-volunteer organization that was founded in 2003. MWDR operates through a volunteer network of representatives, transporters and foster homes in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Iowa. Most dogs come into MWDR from kill shelters or puppy-mill closures. Owner surrenders also are accepted when funds and foster homes are available. For More Information: Go to www.mwdr.org.
