    Good spot

Clean rooms but the bathroom fan runs constantly so I just shut the door. Great walking distance to restaurants and bars. Very dog friendly but lacks any close green areas to potty but we got by. Great staff too.

    Very Friendly!

There is a lot of value in staying here with our dog. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the retro vibe along with the delicious donuts and coffee in the AM.

    Great small hotel

We stayed here one night on February 6. The room was great on the first floor. I liked the cute chairs that were by the window. Prices were really low compared to other hotels in the area. We were able to walk our two dogs all around the historic area right from our room so we didn’t have to struggle looking for parking in the town.

    Dog Heaven

Our mini dachshund Rudy has brought us to this inn three times on our annual road trip from Florida to the Smoky Mountains. Thunderbird Inn is clean, comfortable, cute and welcoming. The home baked donuts are amazing!

    Fantastic!

We were coming to Charleston for the 1st time and wanted a budget conscious, dog friendly and centrally located hotel and The Thunderbird exceeded our expectations. They gift you locally made treats with a little dog tag that says 'The Thunderbird loves me, Savannah GA' when you check in. They have a small dog run right off the lobby and do amazing fresh donuts and coffee in the lobby in the am. It couldn't be a better location to walk or use the local tolls that are right outside the door to explore the historic districts of Savannah. Not to mention the kitschy 1960's decor and sign are amazing. Everyone we met, guests and staff were so friendly. We will definitely be back.

    Fantastic for Pups!

The Thunderbird Inn proved a wonderful stay for our time in Savannah! I loved the extra love that dogs are given - everything from a dog treat & collar tag upon arrival, to a conveniently located outdoor dog area, to a really welcoming staff. The only downside was that the environment can be quite noisy. It was also in amazing proximity to so many places we wanted to visit, so all in all the extra sound of foot traffic & cars felt worth the location. It's not luxurious but it is fun, clean, thoughtful and perfect for a stay with our dog!

nice place, enjoyed our stay. my only complaint was I could hear everything being said in room next door. kids screaming at 11pm. I know they were having a good time so add some fans that will help.

    Best dog friendly accommodation!

We decided to revisit Savannah with our dog and needed a dog friendly accommodation. I originally chose the Thunderbird Inn because of their cheaper parking fees and their one time pet fee of $50. Some to most places I checked had a nightly pet fee and was much pricier. Upon booking I was asked if we need a kennel, food bowls, pet beds etc. This saved us having to load our dogs kennel up! On arrival day they texted asking if we needed anything last minute before check in. Our dog also received a dog biscuit and Thunderbird Inn pet tag for memories! This place is also in walking distance of almost everything if you don’t mind walking. Will 100% rebook this place on future visits. Fresh donuts in the morning with coffee and popcorn and lemonade in the afternoon as well. Pet treats offered in the lobby.

    Very dog friendly hotel!

We absolutely love this hotel! As soon as we checked in, our pup received a cute dog biscuit and a cute dog tag. The dog area was a great place for him to wander around and do his thing. Complementary moon pies and RC colas were in our room for us humans, and to top it all off, delicious coffee and donuts in the morning were found in the lobby. Great location, too!

    We loved The Thunderbird Inn!

Such a cute place! The Thunderbird is a retro-styled property that will just make you smile! The bright, happy lobby area immediately puts you in a good mood. The rooms are thematically decorated, very clean, and the beds are super comfortable. There are even complimentary RC Colas and Moon Pies left for you in the room! An adorable, little enclosed “side yard” is perfect for relaxing with your dog (off leash) while they sniff around and do their business. For being located on a busy street intersection downtown, we found our room to be incredibly quiet. Pet guests receive a pre-wrapped, big dog biscuit, and a heart shaped pet tag that says, “The Thunderbird Inn loves me!” We were so impressed! What a sweet gift. There is a nice, well lit parking lot in front of the hotel as well. We felt safe and VERY welcomed. Thank you, Thunderbird Inn!

    Great staff

Loved the retro vibe. Staff very friendly. I don't know l would be charged for parking when l booked my reservation. Room very comfortable, however bathroom extremely small and cramped. Great outdoor space for dogs. Close to town but busy road and traffic noise pretty loud. Overall a great experience.

    Great location and staff

The property, the people, and the overall feel of the property made us feel welcome and wanting to return. They even have their own dog park (albeit small). It is more than other properties in Savannah offer. Thunderbird, we’ll be back!

    Nice

My husband likes staying on the ground floor where he can back up the truck right to our door. Makes for easier move in/out with the dogs. Sadly, most of these types of motels are older and run down. This place is also older, also run down, but clean with really nice staff. Room was big, didn't smell, bed was comfy. Nice little continental breakfast, too. Would definitely stay here again.

    Too much for one night

Hotel charged me $50 for one night. No carpet so why charge so much to “sanitize” after my 20 lb dog left? Oh by the way, the toilet didn’t function. I think the hotel is way overpriced for a 2 star hotel.

The only positive was the dog biscuit. Bad location, very noisy, centipede in room, homeless people all around. Don't pick this hotel.

    Great first trip!

We have been to Savannah before, but we wanted to bring our pup this time! This hotel had a fun, retro chic ambiance!! Our pup received a souvenir dog tag & dog treat upon arrival. The staff was so kind and friendly to us.

    Cute Concept

As a renovated motor lodge, the Thunderbird Inn is a cute concept. The Krusty Kreme and coffee breakfast was fun. It was nice to have our two cats and two dogs all in on room. The only reason I’m giving four bones instead of five is that we have stayed at some nicer places that have no pet fees.

    Pitbull friendly

My dog sasha and I stayed a few nights at the Thunderbird. The Thunderbird was not my initial top choice but the extended stay in Savannah does not allow pitbulls so I was very happy when I called the thunderbird and they said there are no breed restrictions. Upon arrival check-in was quick and easy they handed me a homemade dog bone for sasha and I little keychain for her. Thare are some additional fees however. There is a $50 dog deposit which their website mentions, however, though there is parking onsite there is a $15 per night parking charge which I did not see mentioned anywhere online. They also make you sign a waiver for your dog, dog can't go on the furniture, you can't leave dog in the room unattended, if your dog makes excessive noise you could be kicked out. They didn't ask for any proof of vaccines or rabies shots like most places do when I bring sasha, but I was prepared just in case. Once we got to the room it was just a standard king bef room, the bathroom was very tiny, couldn't close the door because the toilet was right there. Bedding was clean, however, sasha is one of those dogs who gets more water on the floor than she does in her mouth when she's drinking water so I grabbed one of the white face towels to sop it up. Bad idea, the towel was no longer white but a dirty brown. I used one of sasha's to-go car towels after that. There was also a strangely musty smell upon first entering the room each time but I didn't notice the smell after a few mintues. The thunderbird inn in on a fairly busy road and it's a motel. You could hear all the cars driving past at night and hear everyone walking by your room, the walls between the rooms were thin as well as I could hear stuff I did not want to. There is only a coffee maker and fridge in the room no microwave. I drink tea so I just needed the hot water from the coffee maker, when opening the top I noticed it was a little dirty so I put the water in it and it came out with specks, i did this 5 more times and it still had specks so I just didnt use it. The tv works but the remote does not so if you want to change the volume or channel you have to press and hold the single button on the tv. There was also no tv channel guide so I needed up going through each channel and writing down what each was. Overall staff was friendly, room cleanliness was not up to my standards, location was great, we walked everywhere.

Very dog friendly and great service!

Our large dog enjoyed his stay. We also asked for a dog bed which he loved! The location is walking distance to everything downtown! They had complimentary treats for us and our dog. Only con is there are no curtains in the room to block the street/hotel lights.

    Very noisy!

While the hotel was “cute” retro style, the noise from the traffic on the highway nearby made it hard to sleep. Great staff but no dog beds or water bowls were provided.

    Great location!

The Thunderbird Inn was a great location, very clean, comfortable bed. It could be rather noisy at night, but mostly noises of a city. There wasn't a pet bed or bowls, but we brought our own. And there are many changes right now due to COVID-19. And our boy got a huge dog biscuit on arrival. Overall, a great place to stay! Would stay again.

    Awesome for dogs!

The girls I met at the Thunderbird Inn were all very sweet and accommodating. The location was right off the highway and about a 13 minute walk to city market. I loved the outdoor area for my pup to walk around off leash and sniff the smells and do her business. Super convenient for me to be able to let her roam without holding a leash. Thanks for a great stay!

    Retro And Cute

Stayed here over the weekend with my friends and furry friend. The staff was super nice and we got a treat on check in! The dog area is very cute too. Giving 4 stars because it is in a noisy area and after reading the description we didn’t get the other goodies. Krispie Kremes were yummy to wake up to though and it’s not a bad walk to River St

    Cash and Sophia @ Savannah

Room was cool, loved that there was no carpet, but very noisy at night. The treats they gave were nice, the potty area is across the street in a medium, a lot of traffic so it took them longer to feel comfortable to go. There was a $15 nightly parking fee and a $50 pet charge. Crispy Creme Donuts for breakfast, but the coffee was good!
