EASTERN SHORE OF MARYLAND on the Chesapeake Bay in the historic town of Betterton, Maryland, your day begins with coffee on the deck of this spacious Summer Home. Built in 1929 as a vacation home, where many a weary traveler slept, you and your large group/family will find plenty of common space to relax, sleep, eat and make memories! The 6 bedrooms gives everyone space to themselves! Bring your own sheets and towels. There are ceiling fans throughout, central air conditioning, 55" TV and two smaller TVs in bedroom and hallway, fireplace, deck for your outdoor dining, enclosed sunroom in the back of the house ideal for summer indoor dining, sunny dining room, screened-in front porch, living room, spacious hall on second floor with four bedrooms; two additional bedrooms on first floor; equipped with all kitchen necessities, free WiFi and streaming on 55" TV, DVD, beach chairs, beach toys, charcoal grills. Just a two minute walk to the beach, public dock available for your boat; fishing from the pier; park area with charcoal grills and a bath house for your use. Great community for bike riding; visiting nearby historic Chestertown (free outdoor concerts on weekends), 60 miles to historic Annapolis (Maryland's capital), fishing outings from Rock Hall. Come for a visit to Betterton in Autumn/Winter: In the Fall and Winter Kent County comes to life in a new way! While in the summer Betterton beach is full of swimmers, in the autumn the beach becomes a magnificent back-drop to sail boats dotting the Bay. Autumn breezes bring antique shoppers to Galena and Chestertown – both a 20 minute drive away; students return to historical Washington College in Chestertown where you’ll find history dating back to the 17th century– take a stroll through the cobble stone streets where you’ll find galleries, studios, and shops featuring the work of local, regional and internationally known artists and craftspeople. Choose a little restaurant for your special meal. The relatively flat land in Kent County attracts cyclists in abundance; the autumn brings the migration of geese seen across the sky. Venturing out of town, you can take a short drive to the bay front town of Rock Hall where you will find marinas and waterman’s workboats; or Galena, a town known for its antique shops; or perhaps to Chestertown, on the banks of the Chester River where a blend of history, arts, shopping, and/or a Saturday morning trip to the Farmers Market along Fountain Park. The students at Washington College keep Chestertown bustling all year round. Come for a visit – you won’t be disappointed.
