Great beach for families with dogs
Cape Henlopen State ParkWe had a great weekend at Cape Henlopen State Park with our 12 year old daughter and 2 year old Aussie. There are two beach areas in the park that allow dogs. We only visited Herring Point. One day pass was $10 for out of State residents. The area we were looking for was easy to find. There is a short Sandy trail to the beach. Beach was quiet and not crowded. Scout loved the water, digging in the sand, and meeting other pups. The waves were great for boogie boarding. Bring bug spray and an umbrella. No trash cans on the beach, and I didn’t see amenities like a shower to rinse off. However there was a Rita’s Italian Ice truck selling cold treats to families.
Great afternoon at Higbee beach
Higbee Beach Wildlife Management AreaLovely small beach near Cape May. Calm water was great for our Boy Scout., although our daughter craved bigger waves. Lots of great restaurants near by. So happy for the recommendation by our waiter from Fins!
Great stop on way home from beach
Grain Craft Bar + KitchenVery friendly staff. Brought our pup a big bowl of water and showered him with attention. They even brought him treats. Food was delicious and came out quickly. Large selection of beers. We didn’t try any but the cocktails looked delicious.
Yum!
Fins Bar & GrilleFins has a small, shaded deck for families with dogs. They brought us water for Scout right away. Food service was fast and the shrimp tacos we had were delicious and filling. They also brought treats for Scout.
Great place for dogs
Crooked Hammock BreweryGreat little brewery in Lewes, De. Food was delicious, drinks were ice cold, atmosphere was lively and fun. There is lots going on here ( playground, games, corn hole, hammocks, fire pits…) so beware if you have a pup that is easily overwhelmed by lots of stimulation. Our waitress was wonderful with our boy, Scout. He got lots of love and a big water bowl as soon as we were seated.
