5 Bones
Serena Inn & Suites - SundanceClean, comfortable room. Nice grassy area for the dogs to walk around. Felt very safe in the area. Breakfast was standard fare. We ended up booking another night since we were in the area and didn't want to take a chance on another hotel. Would recommend.

Motel 6-Missoula MT - UniversityI only require a safe, clean comfortable room so my standards are pretty basic. The room was cleanish, stains on the sheets. The toilet was running throughout the night, people were stomping up and down the stairs even though we were 3 rooms away from the stairs, cigarette butts all over the property, other guests yelling a lot, homeless people hanging around, and the stairs to the pet relief area were spiked and not conducive to pets paws. Ours dogs were barking throughout the night because of all the ruckus, so sleep was minimal. The one bone because was there was a nice walking area behind the motel that follows a stream.
Would stay there again
Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Rapid City SDRoom was clean, comfortable and very quiet. My favorite hotel of the 12 different places we stayed on our vacation. No problem with our dogs on the 4th floor. Small pet relief with artificial grass that freaked my dogs out a bit; we ended up walking the dogs on the grassy median which was not great but okay. Breakfast was good. Would stay there again.
Very cute vintage hotel
Chalet MotelThe room was charming and cute. The bathroom and parking lot were a little small, but we were overall very happy. The grassy area was nice for the dogs. Breakfast was minimal but we felt welcome and safe. Would stay there again if we are in the area.
Don't do it
Tru by Hilton DeadwoodThe room was clean and I feel like it'd cleaner when it has a vinyl floor. It is basically a Motel 6 level of room. Breakfast was was pretty good. Deadwood City is very dog friendly. However, the pet relief area was filthy artificial grass in front of the motel along a very busy 4 lane freeway. One of my dogs was freaking out with the noisy motorcycles, buses and cars whizzing by, and could not do her business. I walked her behind the motel looking for a quiet area, and there were 2 dead rodents and no other pet areas.
The hotel clerk recommended crossing the 4 lane highway as an alternative to walk my dog. I wanted to do an eye roll because our room faced the freeway it was very noisy. You had to walk through the casino to get to the elevators. They also charged an additional $15 for parking. There is only one simple office chair in the room which makes it very uncomfortable if there are 2 guests. I asked for another chair and they said they did not have one available. Would not recommend if you are traveling with pets.
Great but noisy
Super 8 by Wyndham CodyNice clean room, very friendly staff, very nice pet area with new grass. Would be 5 bones except we were right next to the stairs. Unfortunately there were several people that sounded like they were stomping up and down late at night and early in the morning waking the dogs that woke us up too. I would definitely stay there again, but ask for a different room away from the stairs. Nice breakfast in the AM.
Great location
Motel 6 Bozeman MTThe Bozeman Motel 6 was just outside of the Yellowstone park entrance. It was clean, loved the hard floors, and quiet room. The dog grass area was a little shabby but it was just for the dog to poop. Only reason for 4 bones is over $200 for a Motel 6 is pretty steep, but location, location, location. Would recommend.
