Old hotel in a bad neighborhood
Hampton Inn & Suites Albuquerque-Coors RoadThis Hampton Inn is an older hotel in a bad neighborhood with nonexistent service and a rocky pet relief area. During our stay, one elevator was out of order, at least one ice machine did not work, the drawers in our room wouldn’t stay closed, and I could not get digital features to work. When we pulled onto the street, there were homeless people being chased off by three police cars. We consider it to be one of the worst Hampton Inns we’ve ever stayed in.
Great vintage diner
Ed Walker's Drive-In & RestaurantIf you love diner food, Ed Walker’s is the place to go, offering curbside service and outdoor tables where you can dine with your dog. We opted for an outdoor table under the red-and-white drive-in awning. Before we could settle in, we had menus and water for Pebbles. She approved of the French dip sandwich, but we kept those delicious onion rings all to ourselves.
While you’re in the area, the Fort Smith National Historic Site is a great place for a walk with your dog.
Great food and service
Yellow Brix RestaurantWe sat on the huge patio and enjoyed a delicious meal, with a burger patty for Pebbles. Maria provided excellent service and good food recommendations.
Great place with delicious food
Harbor BreakfastWe took our dog Pebbles to Harbor Breakfast and sat outside in the blue wooden booths. The waitress knelt down to greet Pebbles as she took our orders. Service was prompt, as was the delicious food. This is a place we will come back to, time and again.
Adequate pit stop
Little America Travel CenterI had read good things about Little America and it’s dog park, which is a patch of gravel behind a chain-link fence. But it was adequate for humans to refuel, use the restroom
Tasty burgers
Smitty's Garage Burgers & BeerWe stopped at Smitty’s on a Monday afternoon, found a cool spot on the huge patio, and ordered burgers for all of us — a cheeseburger for me, an Impossible Burger for my pescatarian hubby, and a plain burger pattie with no seasoning for Pebbles. It was love at first bite.
Great place to run
Woodward Dog ParkWe never found the fenced dog park, but this is a huge park with plenty of space for your pup to explore.
Great dog-friendly patio
Hop GardensHop Gardens offers tasty pizza, sandwiches and salads with a wide selection of craft beers, with an expansive back patio that is totally dog friendly. As soon as I sat down with Pebbles, a waiter brought her a water bowl. Other diners stopped by to pet her, so she wasn’t just tolerated — she was welcomed. The bonus is that Hop Gardens is a short walk from our home in Curtis Park. Now that we’ve discovered it, we will be back often — especially for that vegetarian sweet pig pizza. The crust passes the Pebbles taste test.
