Perfectly Passable
Best Western Historical InnNothing special, but allows 2 pets per room and is walkable to the historic district. Free breakfast isn't bad either.
Beware of Mosquitos
Anastasia State ParkThere were literal swarms of mosquitoes. Not even bug spray helped. Left pretty quickly because both us and the pups were getting chewed up.
So Many Smells for Pups
Castillo de San Marcos National MonumentOur pups loved exploring the grounds, even if they weren't allowed in the fort. Just make sure you ask when the cannon will fire so you can avoid being around at that time.
Great Selection
City Gate SpiritsFrom whiskey to rum to vodka, and moonshine, everything was delicious. Definitely do the free tasting! The pups got treats while we got tipsy.
Best Ghost Tour to Date
A Ghostly EncounterOur tour guide, Hippie, was the absolute best. We learned a lot of St. Augustine history, as well as a lot about different types of ghosts. The pups loved the tour, possibly even more than we did. Will definitely be back next time we visit!
Dog Friendly and Delicious!
Violas Pizza, Pasta & SeafoodNow under new management, so the website is no longer correct. (They do close at 8, not 10, and the menu has changed.) Also, the patio is being renovated, but there are a couple of small tables out front. That being said, everyone was super friendly. Brought the pups ice water right away. Service and food were excellent.
Nice Nature Stop
Fort Matanzas National MonumentBrought the pups here for an afternoon stroll. They enjoyed the trail but it is pretty short. Also, despite what you may see elsewhere online, this park does not participate in the National Park Bark Ranger program.
