Quiet... for now

The area is in a high crime rate according to the crime map although we didn't have any issues during our stay. As others have mentioned the hotel is STILL under a complete remodel. The front desk put us in a room right NEXT to the rooms under construction, which was filthy, so immediately went back and asked for another room. We were then given a room in the back that had been remodeled, but the fridge didn't work and neither did the phone to call the front desk. Third time was the charm - right next door; however the crew doing the remodel did a terrible job on the bathroom. To avoid writing a book, state your needs at the front desk to hopefully avoid multiple reassignments. The bed was comfortable, shower sufficient. There is no hair dryer here and even though we turned the fridge down, it still froze items put inside. Better than no fridge at all though. Overall, the Super 8 across the street is a better place since I stayed there last year.

Great food and dog friendly

Timbers doesn't have an outdoor area where pets are normally allowed, but I was pleasantly surprised when we were told I could bring in my dog!! The food and drinks were great, priced reasonably and our waitress was amazing and in such a legitimate happy mood the whole time and the owner even came out to make sure all was good.

Better off in your own camper

While my previous visit a year ago went quite well, the trip 2/7 & 8/2026 was enough to make me never want to stay in this area again. The "Grand's" PER NIGHT pet fee is $75! While they do have a very convenient pet relief area and a dirt parking lot next to the Mob Museum, the entire area has homeless people crashed on the sidewalk now. Smoking (incl. pot) is everywhere!

The first morning I went to my truck in the *secure* parking garage, one of them had defecated next to my back tire. Repulsive!! From Fremont St and clear to Rancho Dr is bad, which is the only area I visited. No wonder their tourism is going down so much. $15 for a beer and don't bother gambling unless you're ok with making donations.

A new hotel in the desert

The GOOD things about this hotel are that it is fairly new, clean and the front desk staff were very friendly. For what hotels cost these days it was a decent price. I did not bring my dog this time, but also did not see any easily accessible potty areas. It was 95 degrees out at 10am, so not a good time to travel with my dog. I was pleasantly surprised that the room was NICE when we walked in rather than the hotel saving $$ and leaving the temp at 75, it was a very cool 67 degrees! I reserved a room with a refrigerator to keep our water/drinks cold too. There is a pool and Jacuzzi outside and they "looked" clean, but I didn't use them. The pool water was green, which I thought was odd.

Drawbacks: The hallway, stairs and elevators are not air conditioned, so you're in a sauna while using them. The microwave buttons are in Spanish. IMO, we are in the USA and regardless of your location, use English appliances! Most Americans do not know Spanish. Someone had put a paper towel in the sink in the women's restroom next to the dining area. I can only guess to clog it up enough to wash their hair that was also on the rim of the sink. GROSS! I told the front desk and they knew about it, but nobody had gotten to cleaning it yet. Free breakfast? It's always been this way and I can only say you get what you pay for. Spend the money and go out for breakfast.

Excellent food, wine, service and dog spot

I loved that the staff was so welcoming of dogs on their patio. Once seated, my girl was brought a fresh bowl of water with ice cubes, the wait staff interacted with her nicely; for me - the wine recommendation was great, the food was very good and the path and lake provide an excellent view and place to walk before or after dinner. Highly recommend this spot for a lunch/dinner date with your 4-legged kid.
