A MALE EMPLOYEE TOLD US TO LEAVE OUR DOG IN THE CAR ON A HOT 84° SUNNY SUMMER DAY!! Our senior arthritic dog has a thick coat and weighs 108lbs. This was an extremely cruel and inhumane suggestion and clearly they did not want our business. We went to Jerry and the Mermaid for my handicapped mother’s 82nd birthday and brought our extremely docile large 11.5 year old dog with us because we were meeting my aunt an hour and a half from home. We picked this restaurant because we saw it was listed here on BringFido and my aunt has seen a lot of dogs while dining here in the past. In fact, when we arrived there was one barking like crazy on their makeshift patio. Not only did they tell us to leave our dog in a hot car, but they also watched my disabled mother struggling to get up the stairs and did nothing while my aunt tried to help her. These people have no shame. What’s laughable is that the man who told us to put him in the car told us he was “too energized”. We struggled for a good 5 minutes to get him to climb back in the car before we left. This turned out to be a great blessing in disguise though, because we ended up going to a much better restaurant near by called ON THE DOCK, which has fantastic menu, food was delicious, professional staff, and a classier atmosphere with an amazing view and gorgeous interior. The patio is right on the water has good shade and a beautiful bar! Not with seating looking out at a parking lot like Jerry and the mermaid. They also had no issue with our big senior dog and made us all feel totally welcomed. The staff and guests all loved our dog. He got lot’s of pets and photos taken of him at On The Dock.

Excellent restaurant. If you want to eat out somewhere upscale and bring your dog, this is the spot! Dog friendly. Great seafood, stellar service, awesome atmosphere right on the water. They were very welcoming to our large, docile, senior Akita. They were happy to have him as a guest in their restaurant and brought him a bowl of water right away. You need to walk your dog through the inside dining room to get to the outside deck, and this place is classy, so I asked first if it was ok to bring him in when I arrived and they said it was not a problem. We were seated at a nice table under a canopy on the dock. I wish I remembered our server’s name because she was so nice and knowledgeable. All around great time. Awesome summer spot. We’ll definitely be back!

This place is great! Been to Otto’s many times over the years and finally brought our 10 year old boy in today today. He loved it! Great outside deck on the water. Our boy made a doggy friend and really enjoyed the broiled seafood platter. Very welcoming to dogs. The owner is a dog lover and has a few of her own. Big sign on the front of the building that says “dogs welcome” and water bowls at the entrance.
