Hartwood Acres

We visited Hartwood Acres on a hot day at the end of August. We had a great time exploring the exterior and gardens of the 1929 Mansion. Dogs are of course not able to go inside on the mansion tour so we skipped that. They do rent areas of the park for outdoor weddings and other events but on the Sunday afternoon we were there it was quiet. The entire park is over 600 acres with a huge lawn area, metal sculptures, and lots of crisscrossing trails through the woods. There's also an off-leash dog park on the property but we didn't visit that. We will definitely plan to spend another day here in the future, it's a beautiful park.

Very informative and very dog friendly

I will echo everyone else and give this museum a top rating. This was one of my favorite destinations in in Gettysburg. It was just right for the entire family including our two dogs. Not too big but a ton of information packed in. The basement experience really brought home what it must have been like for the residents of Gettysburg. We brought our dogs in and our more timid dog did get startled but only for a moment. Highly recommend.

Most stores were dog friendly

We were on vacation with our dogs and we're happy to find these outlet stores. I took them into a shoe store, a really nice antique store, and a super dog friendly military surplus store. We were all happy to get out of the Sun and enjoy the air conditioning. A few stores did have signs up that said no pets.

Great Food and Great Patio

We felt very welcomed with our big group and two dogs. Trixie and Bella noticed the dog house right away and they absolutely loved the "scraps" the server brought out for them. The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious. 5 Bones!

Great for the whole family!

We love this place! We usually stop for wings - it's a small menu featuring chicken (wings, sandwiches)
and Recon Brewing's beer selection. Very dog friendly with a pup menu and plenty of outdoor seating. It's only partially covered so if it's very hot or rainy you might not find a table that works, but we have always been lucky so far, rain or shine. There are even a couple fire pit tables, perfect for those cool fall days. After dinner we enjoy walking around the neighborhood. This restaurant is right in the middle of housing development with its own mini "Main Street" and including a nice grassy park across the street from the restaurant. The staff is funny and friendly. Highly recommend.

Our Favorite!

This was our first time to the Outer Banks and we were so happy with Mulligans we ate dinner there twice! They have plenty of parking and outdoor table where you can eat with your dogs and kids. The area next to the bar was protected from the rain but a bit more crowded. The doggie dinners served on a Frisbee were a nice touch. I highly recommend the fish tacos although everything we ordered was delicious.
