Lots of running

Batavia Bark Park

This park is free to the public. There is a pond at the beginning for dogs that love to swim - not fenced in area. A short walk down a path takes you to a very large fenced in area with a wooded area and another area with agility equipment.

Lots of dogs to play with and all the owners are very friendly.

LARGE

Mattoon Community Dog Park

This is probably the largest dog park I have been to. Very clean and agility equipment available. Side for small and large dogs and PLENTY of room for running on both sides.

The people at the park are very friendly as well. Dogs were well behaved and owners watched them well.

Could have easily been a five. However not being local the direction given by google do not take you to the parking area. So that can be hard to find.

Large Grass Areas

Hampton Inn Marion

We slept on the first floor and hardly no noise at all. Our puppy and us slept really good. There are large grass areas all around the hotel for you to potty your 4 legged friend. You could even play a game of fetch if you have a very well behaved dog that comes right back with the ball or use a very long leash. Breakfast is provided. Only reason I didn’t give 5 bones is poop bags are not available on the property anywhere so bring your own.

Poopy

Cane Creek Dog Park

Large area for small and big dogs. However poop all over the place. Some runny poop. Having a dog that got giardia as a puppy people that bring their dog to parks need to respect the health of other dogs. There is a 2 mile trail in the same area that is really good. We just had a problem because our puppy is still in chase mode for woodland animals.

Directions Wrong

Dillon Park Bark Park

The directions took us to the kids playground near the back of the park. The dog park is at the front of the park. Near the National Guard.
The park is a gravel and sand surface. There are water fountains, however they were either broken or off for the winter. There are shelters on the large and small dog sides of the park with picnic tables and fans. Also restrooms are available for the humans.
There were no available poop bags, however they had the dispensers but they were empty.
The inside gate where there would be a break area for dogs to enter didn’t latch.

Needs some love

Morton Avenue Dog Park

This park has a chance to be a great park. Need to do better job of cleaning up old dog toys left behind. And also to many chairs to sit in. Really crowded with lots of stuff. Broken chairs and picnic table.

Dogs and humans that were at the park were friendly and nice to us and Einstein.

Bags for poop are provided and actually no poop left behind in park. Water bowls are provided.

Great Stay

Tru by Hilton Knoxville North I75

This hotel is a wonderful place for your fur baby. Rooms have vinyl flooring. Also there is a very small fenced in area if you have a puppy that has trouble going potty on the leash. The only reason I’m not giving 5 bones is that even though the hotel has quiet hours, this is not the case. You can hear the people above you when they walk and the doors have some light that shines through. So if you have a puppy with some anxiety and that barks at any unfamiliar noises be prepared for some barking.

Clicky Humans and old dogs

Trantina Farm Dog Park

If you are an out of towner this is not the dog park for you. If you really need a place for your dog to run, pick the side that is empty or go on one of the trails.

Wide Trails/No trash cans

Matthiessen State Park

The trails are wide and mainly gravel. We went after a very rainy day and also rained while we were on the trail. Not muddy at all. Would be nice to maybe have spots with trash cans if your puppy uses the bathroom. Not even trash cans at the shelter we started at.

Flat

Goose Lake Prairie State Natural Area

This is a very flat trail with grass paths. The paths are cut through the prairie and labeled very well on your way out., but not on the way back.

Caring People

Play and Stay Dog Lounge

My puppy Einstein started going to day care last week. He is very timid behavior around other people.

They come out to the car to get him and are very gentle with him to go inside.

When I called to schedule him to come into daycare for his second after he was evaluated the person on the phone said I can’t wait to meet him I have heard so much about him.

When my wife picked him up the same person said she was gonna bring cheese for him because he wouldn’t take the treats they had.

They care about him and wanna help him with his timid

Since of security

Broad Ripple Bark Park

This park requires you to get a day pass for $5 and you need to have all your dogs shot records. The office takes your information and puts it on file for a year. This gave me a since of security knowing that every dog at the park was up to date on all their shots. And by having every dog on and dog owner on record means if something happens at the park you can report it to the office.

They also have plenty of room to run. The park is half turf and half grass. Has lots of agility equipment and a place to wash your dog if you like. Next to the dog washing station they had to small kiddy pools you can fill with water on a hot day.

We were traveling so we stopped for about an hour for him to play. There where plenty on dogs for him to play with and the people were very friendly.

Not much green space

Best Western Plus Indianapolis North at Pyramids

This hotel doesn’t really have much green space and the ones had either had trash or where near major highway. My puppy likes to walk in the morning so I was kinda lucky there is a road that runs behind the hotel to walk him back and forth on. The other thing is the entrance door close to our room didn’t lock. The room also had a musky smell.

In a pinch

Super 8 by Wyndham Asheville Biltmore

If you are traveling and need a place to stay in an emergency then this place is great for your pup. There is a small dog park, however the grass needs mowing. There are also lots of grass areas as well. With poop bag dispensers in many locations.

If you have a handicap or elderly person with you it could be a challenge. The doors have a step up to get in and the beds are really high.

No pet fee

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Lexington South / Hamburg

This place is a great spot if looking for a very welcoming place for your pet. While we were there we saw 4 other dogs that got to spend the night. We actually were running way behind check-in and called ahead and they checked us in over the phone so we wouldn’t loose our room. When we finally got there at 3:30 am there was a very nice person there to give us our keys and give Einstein a treat. When we checked out the same thing happened - Einstein got a treat and a nice pet from the very friendly person at the counter.

Thorough and friendly

Wag 'N Paddle

We live an hour and 15 minutes away from this place. We scheduled a swim when we were in the area for a doctors appointment. Before he could even come they wanted all of his medical records and make sure he had a clear stool sample.

Since it was his first time swimming they put a life vest on him and didn’t take it off until he was comfortable in the water.

We have been here 1 other time since the first visit and both swim instructors were friendly and amazing with Einstein.

Water Fountain

Wiggley Field

Large area for running. Has picnic tables for sitting and also a dug out with benches.
There is a water fountain for dogs and people.
Only two things really wrong with the park is the park doesn’t have a separate area for large and small dogs, so if your dog doesn’t get along with dogs of all sizes it won’t be a good fit.

Needs improvement

River Run Dog Park

This dog park could be awesome if it was better maintained. People do not pick up their poop. And the person that mows the lawn runs over tennis balls so there are tennis ball pieces sometimes.

Also we were excited about a fountain that was going in and when they put it in the fountain is on the outside of the park.

Nice Paths

Naperville Riverwalk

We came to the area for a doctors appointment and had extra time before another appointment so we found the area. Paths are wide and paved. also nice shaded spots along the route we took.

Dog Menu

Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar

Einstein really enjoyed his food from the dog menu. His water bowl came out when our waters did.

All the staff was really friendly. In fact a few staff members came up and asked about him and also one that was not clocked in pet him on their way into work.

You could tell that the staff wanted to pet him, but it’s part of there rules that they can’t.

Noisy but clean

Best Western Naperville Inn

You have to be in outside room on the bottom floor. There is light that can be seen through the door. So our puppy saw movement outside and would bark. Also are very thin so could hear people in the other rooms and he would bark. Our puppy does not normally bark unless someone knocks. He always sleeps through the night. The bathroom door didn’t close all the way and the fridge had a knocking noise. The toilet takes a while to fill with water so it will flush. The room was very clean and no carpet so don’t have to worry about accidents. Also the furniture is very dog friendly.
