Great spot - dogs loved it!

Universal Joint

We met up with friends here and stayed for HOURS! The staff was so friendly, attentive and not bothered by how long we were there.
They made sure the dogs had fresh water and lots of love. I got a kick out of the dog menu, which is served on a frisbee. My picky eater (yes, I have two dogs who are very picky with human food) loved their chicken breasts and the frisbee!
The food is so good and their menu has something for everyone. Their jalapeño cheese dip was incredible.
The establishment is particular about dogs behaving and actually asked a table to leave as their dog was being aggressive towards every dog that walked on to the patio. Not only was it super annoying, we didn’t know if at any moment it was going to end up in a fight. The response of the table was “he sounds meaner than he is”. I applaud the establishment for standing their ground on behalf of the other patrons. PSA - If your dog can’t behave in public, socialize at a dog park until it can. A restaurant with children is not a training ground.
If we come back to Asheville, this place is definitely on our list!

Best spot in Bryson City

Nantahala Brewing Company

Tucked away on the edge of Bryson City, this establishment is the perfect hang out spot that is not touristy. Large grassy area, lots of patio space for doggos to hang out without being on top of each other. The staff is super friendly and there are water dishes available with fresh, cold water you can refill yourself.
We didn’t eat but the food looked so good we wish we would have had dinner there instead of the nasty place up the road.
They have a wide variety of craft beers and are very knowledgeable about each one.
We will visit again next time we are here.

Delicious Food and Wonderful Atmosphere

Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar

While passing through on my birthday trip, we needed a place to stop for lunch that was dog friendly. Lazy Dog did not disappoint!
The establishment is located near a busy street at the Mall, but once seated, you forget all of that. The inside has a relaxed, upscale feel. The outside patio is large, and has a much more relaxed vibe while still coming across as upscale.
The staff was super friendly and just attentive enough that we enjoyed our visit without feeling bothered.
The food was incredible and priced just right for quality and portion size. They brought out complimentary parmesan waffle crisps and waters to start. My husband ordered the bison burger and stated it was the best burger he’s ever had. Their IPA mustard is a must try. I had the falafel bowl. Everything was fresh and so satisfying.
Our dogs were welcomed with fresh bowls of water and lots of love and praise.
We plan on stopping here every time we are passing through and will definitely be a return trip home stop.
Big thank you to the staff and owners for such a wonderful experience. Wishing continued success.

Mediocre at best

CJ's Grille

Yes they allow dogs. Water bowls were not offered. We also were told to sit on the patio with our dogs yet we watched several people come outside with theirs. So it seems they allow dogs inside as well??
The food was mediocre at best. My BLT was not “piled high” with bacon as the menu stated. It had two pieces of bacon on thick Texas toast. One half of the bread was toasted golden brown, the other was toasted in grease and was an almost black color. My tater tots were deep fried so crisp it felt like eating Capt. Crunch and tore my mouth up. The burger was bland and even the dogs wanted nothing to do with the fries.
The service was non-existent. My husband had to go inside to request a refill and check on our food.
There are not many dog friendly options in Bryson City, so my suggestion is to avoid CJ’s and make the drive to Gatlinburg or Asheville where the food/service and atmosphere is way better.
