Pets only allowed on outdoor patio -- which was CLOSED!

We were visiting the area early April and was excited to try this place because it was said it was a pet-friendly restaurant. So we made dinner reservations via Open Table and added notes that we had a dog. But when we arrived we were told their patio was closed and not allowed to eat inside unless we had a service dog. Was disappointed we were not told before we got there. Highly recommend to call any restaurant in this Dana Point harbor area prior to arrival instead of online reservations. We scrambled to a few other restaurants in the area which also had closed patios due to weather or lack of staffing. PS. Many places did not have outdoor heaters too.

Dog must behave or be asked to leave!

One bone for service. 4 bones for the waffles!

We were visiting the area early April. Excited to try the waffles after we took the Queens Boat tour that was an exceptional experience, but another post. We helped ourselves to the patio to take a break from all the walking which no one was dining in the space. Few minutes later an employee came out just to inform me that I could not have my dog seated in my lap while seated there. I told them that I was just resting here and did not order anything. I brushed it off and left. The waffles sounded so good so we went back to have lunch. We helped ourselves to the patio again. Shortly, another employee came out to tell us that our dog has to remain on the floor and if the dog barks or disturbs others, that we would be asked to leave. We had not even placed our order yet. Annoyed by the comments, probably because we were hungry too, we ordered a small entree to share and left as soon as we could. Did not appreciate how my dog's behavior was assumed. Instead, if the employee or hostess could had made an empathic explanation or a posted signage about it , I probably would recommend this place.
