We were put in a 2nd floor room due to the bottom floor being full of dogs competing in a dog show, which presented a unique challenge for me traveling solo with my reactive dog. The front desk workers were pleasant, but the building is definitely showing age. Everything was clean in the room. It took a long time for the AC to cool down the room and none of the tv channels worked so I ended up using my phone to watch something before bed.
The deadbolt did not match the deadbolt hole in the door frame (not sure if it was due to swelling from the heat), so I ended up shoving the ironing board behind the handle so it had no give. My dog has an intense bark and is very protective so I wasn’t worried about my safety. The most disappointing aspect was that the “dog park” area’s fence is broken and falling down and it is overgrown with weeds.
Overall, it was a convenient overnight stay halfway to our destination with plenty of food options nearby. The building was quiet and we got the rest we needed before moving on. I’m glad I didn’t plan on showering because the bathroom was so small with the toilet mere inches from the tub.
