Fantastic campground on the beach where your dog is welcome (on leash) to hit the sand and water too. But wait, there’s more:
Cross the road to the other side of the state park for a variety of shady hiking trails the dogs will love.

Wonderful and well maintained dog park with lots of features. Shaded seating area. Plenty of trash cans and bags. Lush grass in the middle of August!
There is a crystal clear pond for swimming (some algae and reeds) and my dogs drank from it with no problem. Pond is not fenced off so if you are concerned about your dog drinking from it you’ll need to keep them close (or use small dog side).
My dogs loved this place and it was a great rest stop (zoomies stop) on our cross-country trip.
On the way out we stopped by the animal shelter next door to make a small donation as a thanks for our great experience.

Our pet-friendly room was very clean. There is a cute “old town” within walking distance that has restaurants and cafes with outdoor tables (in summer anyway). Very close to I-84 just west of where it connects with I-80.
