Jack Island is a fantastic spot for a peaceful nature walk, featuring a scenic four-mile loop with a neat cross of intersecting trails that keep the hike interesting. Wildlife lovers will enjoy spotting otters and raccoons along the way, adding a touch of excitement to your outing. If you’re bringing your dog, they’ll love the designated spots where they can jump in and swim, making it a perfect adventure for both you and your furry friend. The trails are well-maintained and offer a nice mix of shade and open areas, making Jack Island a great destination for a refreshing outdoor escape.

Almost a four mile loop, watch out for gators! Can be crowded with a small parking lot. There is only one location of water for dogs to get in but still able to get some swimming in!

Wild Cat Cove is a scenic two-mile loop that starts with a convenient dog park—perfect for letting your pup burn off some energy before hitting the trail. Along the way, there are several access points where dogs can splash in the water, plus piers that offer great spots for sightseeing and soaking in the views. It’s a relaxing, dog-friendly walk with a little something for everyone.
The bookstore was fantastic—my dog Bandit was warmly welcomed inside, and the friendly staff even offered him free treats! They have an excellent selection of both new and used books.

Bandit and I had the best day out on the trail! There are four sections of the park, each more beautiful than the last. The quiet paths, fresh air, and stunning views made it feel like our own little escape. Bandit was in heaven spotting deer, wild turkeys, and all kinds of birds—tail wagging nonstop. It was peaceful, and not crowded.

Walton Rocks is an amazing off-leash beach where dogs can run free and enjoy the ocean—it stretches for miles, giving plenty of room to explore and play. It’s not just great for pups; nature lovers will appreciate the chance to spot sea turtles along the shore.
