We take our sweet dog, Lilo, everywhere we go. He’s a great traveler and we love finding restaurants and hotels in different states that are pet friendly.

Dogtober Fest

Fun, relaxing event

We took our dog to Dogtoberfest for the first time this year. It’s a very laid back event with many local dog related rescue groups, local pet supply stores, small business owners, and charitable organizations pertaining to things that are dog-related (training low-income or jobless people to become groomers, for instance). There were plenty of fun activities for pets, sketch artists, and letting your pet make its own art pieceI wouldn’t plan a trip to the area if this is your only activity, but for local pet owners and people within driving distance, it’s definitely a fun thing to do with your furry kid.

Clean and friendly

Overall a great experience with many pros, but unfortunately a few cons. The pros: very clean, friendly staff, adequate green areas for my dog, decent breakfast with good variety, spacious room, quiet hotel, housekeeping were wonderful, and very comfortable bed and furniture. Cons: farther from downtown/plaza area than other hotels, broken hot tub, and many broken machines in fitness room. We stayed here as part of a package deal, so not exactly sure about the general cost. The pet fee was $75 for our long stay.

Gorgeous views

We did a nice, gentle hike with our dog. The scenery was amazing and at the bottom of the trails there is a visitor’s center with water available for you and your dog.

Clean, comfy, loud

The positive things: room was clean & comfortable, continental breakfast was good, and employees were friendly. The staff was also very accommodating when we needed an extra item in our room, and brought it up immediately.
Negatives- which were not necessarily the hotel’s fault, but this place was loud. It’s located close to a freeway and train tracks. The 1 am train scared my pup and he jumped up from bed growling to protect us from the big, bad train. Our room was also above the outdoor patio and the guests were super loud. Due to the thin window pane we could hear a lot of noise. Eventually it simmered down (around midnight) so we slept well.

Dog approved

Hotel was comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and there was enough green space to walk my dog. It was also convenient to walk to nearby dining.

Pet friendly & great food

The pizza and other food we ordered was amazing. The server brought our dog a huge water dish and didn’t care that we held him on our laps. The first few days of our trip was crowded, so we waiting until a less busy day and were able to enjoy a more relaxed dining experience.

Pet friendly and comfortable

This hotel wasn’t perfect, but the pros far outweigh the cons. Pros: very pet friendly, incredible views, free cookies, pool, plenty of grass, friendly staff. Cons: the official pet walking area is small, close to a big drop, and bears nearby. However, there are plenty of wonderful grassy areas to walk your dog. Most of the dogs used those spaces instead. Also, the hotel doesn’t clean your room or clear trash every day, but if you ever need anything (towels, tissues, toilet paper, trash bags), they get it to you quickly.

Convenient location

The positives about the Georgian are the great location right across the street from the Santa Monica Pier and a block from the 3rd Street Promenade. Our room was clean and the staff were great. The negatives are the high cost of parking ($51/day), no included breakfast, seeing a LOT of homelessness across the street, and not a lot of grass nearby for our dog. When we walked him across the street we had to steer around the homeless folks near all the trees and benches. This isn't the hotel's fault though. Overall we had a good experience at this hotel.

Good For Pups

While visiting Houston we found this casual pizza place. There is plenty of outdoor seating for dogs and the food is also good. We enjoyed our pizzas and salad (
