Belle’s First Ocean Visit

Fort Foster Park

Let me start with I have a newfoundland puppy. Living in central Mass there aren’t a ton of places to bring her to swim. Fort Foster was great! It was $20 to get into the park and it’s “carry in, carry out” so keep that in mind when your baby poops! Rocky beach is exactly what it claims to be, ROCKY! There were very few people but it was almost impassable. One beach no longer allows dogs but the third was perfect. Sandy, not really crowded, people gave us our space. My baby girl had such a good time. So the bad it’s “carry in, carry out” I get it, and the place seemed really clean, but it’s a pain, $20 to get in is a little much but worth it, we had to drive 2 hours to get there, this is obviously not Fort Foster Park’s fault but I’m scraping the barrel for negative here! And finally it would be really nice if they put in even one out door shower so you can rinse off some of that sand and salt. I had to rinse off in the sink.

Great BUT. . .

North Quabbin Dog Park

We go here several times a week and my girl truly enjoys herself. There are always poop bags but rarely water, I always end up bringing some even though no one else seems to. The dogs are generally good but it would be awesome if pup parents actually paid attention and dealt with situations. Also it would be great if people followed the stated rules but all and all the equipment it well maintained and my baby loves it there. Not to mention it’s a great way to tired her out!

Dog swimming

Lake Dennison Recreation Area

I just called and asked if I could bring my puppy swimming there. The man told me the are HIGHLY discouraging it! I was told it is NOT SAFE for dogs to swim in or even drink! As it’s summer I just wanted to spread the word!
