We stayed here while passing through on our way home from Florida, and it was a solid, pet-friendly choice for a night’s rest. If you're traveling with a dog, this is a very convenient and welcoming spot.

Room & Amenities: While the rooms are a bit dated, they were exceptionally clean. Most importantly, the bed was comfortable, and the AC/heating unit worked perfectly, which made for a great night's sleep.

Facilities: There is a pool on site for those looking to take a dip. Note that there is no fitness equipment. When my husband asked the front desk about a gym for me, they had a good laugh with him! It never hurts to ask, right?

Pet-Friendliness: We brought our dog along, and there was plenty of space around the building to walk him, which is always a huge plus when you’ve been on the road.

Dining & Location: The on-site restaurant is only open on the weekends. However, this wasn't an issue for us as there are several local places to eat nearby. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we checked in.

Local Area: If you have extra time, the Sewanee area nearby offers tons of outdoor activities and beautiful scenery. Final Verdict: This is a reliable, friendly, and clean place to stay. We would definitely return if we needed a spot to stop in the area again!

If you are looking for a comfortable, pet-friendly spot in Murfreesboro, this is definitely worth a visit.
The Food
* Fried Chicken: Absolutely nailed it. The skin was perfectly crunchy without being greasy.
* French Fries: These were a highlight—crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and seasoned with a nice hint of Old Bay.
* The Sides: While the flavors were good, my only critique is that they were served in small plastic cups. It would have felt a bit more elevated if they were served in proper bowls or ramekins.
The Atmosphere & Service
* Pet-Friendly Patio: We sat outside with our dog and found the setup very accommodating. The patio is non-smoking and offers a good mix of sun and shade, making it very comfortable.
* Service: Our server, Mo, was excellent. Even though she was balancing tables inside and out, she was very attentive and never made us feel forgotten.
Verdict: We would definitely return! Great chicken, great service, and a very "human-and-hound" friendly environment.

The food here is really tasty (generous portions and delicious key lime pie!), and the staff couldn't have been nicer to us and our dog. However, be aware of the outdoor seating area. There is a massive tree overhead that drops Spanish moss, spores and caterpillars.
If you have a dog with a coat that acts like velcro (like our curly-haired pup), you’ll likely be doing some grooming after lunch. Since they are under new ownership as of March 2026, hopefully, a patio refresh is on the horizon! My husband had the Cuban sandwich (wish it came with chips or fruit); I had the black beans and rice with pork (enough for my husband to add to his sandwich). Would definitely order again. Hope they decide to add some entree salads to the menu, too.

We had such a great experience at Hair of the Dog Grooming in Palmetto! Adrianna, the owner, was incredibly communicative from the start. It was super easy to text her to check available time slots and complete the new-customer paperwork. She’s so kind, and you can immediately tell she truly loves what she does.

Adrianna asked all the right questions about Max—his handling preferences, allergies, and temperament—which made me feel very confident leaving him in her care. We requested a simple shampoo and groom (short but not too short), and she absolutely nailed it. Max looked perfect, and the little tie she added at the end was adorable!

The prices were very reasonable, and the overall experience was fantastic. Adrianna will be our go-to Palmetto groomer from now on. Highly recommend!

Ask for JJ! She’s the best - friendly, efficient, and a beautiful smile. My husband was a first-timer at First Watch and it didn’t disappoint! Food quality was perfect. Loved every bite. Dogs are welcome on the patio. We’ll definitely be back.

This was our first time seeking out a hotel that accepted dogs. We’d lowered our expectations overall thinking it would smell like wet dog and neglect - not at all! The hotel was fresh and clean. The staff was friendly (Randy at the front desk was awesome). They knew we were arriving with our dog and gave us a room on the first floor by the dog walking area to make it easy for us. To top it all off, the breakfast selection was like many other hotels except the eggs were actually delicious. 🤣 Can’t remember the cook’s name but she did served them up with a smile. Easy access to the highway and reasonably priced.

Svetlana is a lifesaver! My husband and I had a conference to attend in the area and needed care for our dog. We’d never traveled with our dog before and didn’t know anyone in that area. Thanks to the wonderful Bring Fido community, we took a chance on Barkenhowl. The site is lovely and well-maintained. Svetlana is delightful and so easy to work with. Max, our Bischon, was there from morning until evening. He was in good spirits when we picked him up at the end of the day and everything went fine. We’ll definitely use Barkenhowl again.

We go here every time we’re on the Island and it never disappoints. Emilie and Maddy make the freshest food on AMI! My husband gets the Poppo’s Chicken Tacos. I get The Other Guy Big Bowl (chicken). We wish they had fish tacos and other seafood options, but we can always count on enjoying what we order.

Walking around the property (including our room), you’d never know they allowed pets. SO clean and well maintained. I expected wet dog smells and having to watch where I stepped. Nope (and I have a sensitive nose 🤣). The prices are reasonable and thanks to the friendly and knowledgeable staff, the check-in process was easy. Thanks to the BringFido community for making this first-timer’s booking experience perfect.
