We stayed in the Lodge, and I definitely should have done more research before booking. The entire room smelled of pee and mold, and was in desperate need of a deep clean to remove dust. This was despite, after check-in, sitting for an hour waiting for housekeeping to finish cleaning our room. For Fido, it’s not much better. There is little green space for pets to do the do, unless you want to be in a cabins yard, and even those are cramped spaces. The size of the room was nice, but that was unfortunately the only positive of our stay at the Cabins of Makinaw.

We had a great stay with Fido at the Beach Inn Motel. The grounds were beautiful, and the rooms were clean! Good things: The main room was clean and the beds were comfortable. There is a large yard bordering the bay where you can sit and watch the sunset with your pup, along with communal grills. The front desk attendant the second day we were there was super attentive and helpful, and genuinely seemed happy we were there. Small upgrades that would make the stay even better: The bathrooms are in desperate need of an upgrade, the tiles were loose and my partner got cut on one of them. Additionally, the poop disposal bin in the back was overflowing when we arrived and had not been emptied when we left. I would also love to see a more secure area to let Fido off leash to explore!
