Two dogs, a peke and a Shepard

Kind of a mixed bag

Mirabeau Park Hotel & Convention Center

On the positive, the room was big, no carpet, a bar sink in addition to the bathroom sink, a large bathroom with a walk in shower that had a rain shower head. Good temp, OK pressure. Mattress was good. Loved the balcony that had two chairs but with dogs a patio one would have been better. here was also a desk with a chair and a table with another chair. We had room service which was quick and the Mediterranean appetizer platter was wonderful but order extra bread. The walnut crusted brie was also good but a little too much crust.

The issues were the amount of traffic at all hours of the night. Both vehicle and people. No one prevented their doors from slamming but us. They are very heavy so very loud. One of the rooms near us kept opening and closing their sliding glass door over and over. People were loud when we went to bed, when we took the dogs out to pee at 3am people were still coming and going. Oddly, sprinklers were left on all evening, night, and still going at 3am and 8am. There was also a truck that appeared to have no one in it but it was parked and running at 3am and 8am and at 8.45 it was off and windows open. Weird.

The place is a maze, our elevator didn't work when we got there. Decent spaces to walk a dog and poop bags supplied. Lots of parking. At 7.30 we got a call that a complaint from the people downstairs had been placed that we were stomping around. We had not been but the dogs had been jumping down off beds 3 or 4 times. Annoyed me because I felt we were the only ones around us working hard at being quiet. And I suspected they had been one of the ones up late. Spokane was expensive to stay in but this place was on the lower side. Mixed bag.

Basic but doable

Dancing Bears Inn

So, this is an odd little place. The owner is very nice and they were willing to take two large dogs with pet fees for each. There are a few little cabins and the main building where she lives that has a few rooms. A "hallway" was built onto the original building along the front, kind of like a mud room. This was convenient since they had just had a big snowstorm, it cut down on snow in the room. All cabins and building are squished on a small lot, its not easy to park your car and I would imagine if everything was full there might not be room for all cars. The rooms are pretty dated, very old furniture, a tiny table, our room had three chairs plus the one for the table. We had two double beds which were reasonably comfortable. No AC and the heat is an old giant box heater that took some sort of gas, it lit when you turned it on and got hot fast. The closet is partially blocked by one of the beds. The bathroom is small but adequate and had good temp and pressure in the shower. The "town" is pretty small and the part this place was at was kind of depressing, boarded up buildings, unpaved roads, but there is a casino about 15 mins away. Walking the dogs means walking on the street but there is not much traffic. A small breakfast is left in your room, bottled water and OJ, yogurt, fruit, muffins. Not a bad place but if you prefer modern this is not the place for you.

Lots and lots of dogs

Best Western Plus Kelly Inn & Suites

This is a very popular place for staying with dogs, lots of them. Plenty of room to walk them but it is very noisy. The lobby is beautiful as is the outside but close up things are wearing thin. Prefer flooring in rooms but this has carpet. Decent size, has fridge and microwave. Toilet and shower are separate from sink area. Good counterspace. Good water temp and pressure. Tub surface was worn thin. Has a grab bar. AC/heat is a thermostat on the wall which is nice. We were put on the 2nd floor in the middle. Has desk and easy chair. Lots of dogs have peed on the carpet, esp on the stairs. Our little one will mark anywhere some other dog has, we don't let him and watch for where he smells. At least on the stairs that is everywhere. Fresh baked cookies in the evening. Desk staff every nice. Full breakfast, pastries, yogurt, waffles, eggs both scrambled and boiled, potatoes, cereal, coffee and juice. There were some shady looking people staying there and some working on a car in the parking lot. Lots of restaurants nearby, esp fast food.

Reasonable convenience

Howard Johnson Hotel & Suites by Wyndham Oacoma

Pretty decent sized room, has carpet. We were able to be on the first floor which was nice. We used a side door to take dogs out. Allows two dogs, including large ones. They charge $10 and tax. Kind of loud with the interstate to one side and a bust road with semis on the other but you can't hear it from your room. Plenty of parking. They have a hot breakfast with pastries, juices, coffee, cereal, waffles, biscuits and gravy, sausages, eggs, bagels. Bathroom is good sized, has handrail for tub/shower. The water is boiling, you will burn yourself if you are not careful. Water pressure is ok. Thermostat for AC not totally accurate.

No carpet, nice grassy area

Comfort Inn & Suites Tipp City - I-75

While the ad says all rooms are dog friendly but one that is not true. Only the second floor has pet rooms. It is great there is no carpet in the rooms. Big bathroom with lots of counter space, hot shower with good pressure. Hair dryer. We had two queens, white comforter with black print. I don't understand white comforters in pet rooms.... mini fridge, desk, dresser, two end tables, desk chair and regular chair. Nice lamp with plugs in between beds. Grassy area is behind building and pretty decent size. If you walk past the Wendy's and Arby's to the church they have huge grassy areas. It was Sunday afternoon and I'm not sure if I was allowed to but I used the fenced in play area Half was grass and our 80 pd puppy got to run. No pet fee, allows two dogs any size. You can park by end side doors and take stairs. Elevator was broken in the morning. Breakfast was bananas, water bottles, granola bars, coffee.

Great place for dogs

Hampton Inn Ottawa (Starved Rock Area)

The Room is just average but certainly big enough for our 2 big dogs. The bathroom is roomy and even though it's a little thing it is nice they have a massage soap in there. They give you a bag with poop bags and dog cookies when you arrive. Plenty of Room to walk the dog and open areas you can throw a Frisbee. One of our dogs is sensitive to noise and even though there are plenty of businesses around it was not too noisy for him. We were almost at the end of the Hall on the 1st floor so it was very convenient to park outside the door and get the dogs in-and-out without running into a lot of people. They have a do-it-yourself breakfast with things you can microwave and the basics they don't have to cook. The beds were actually pretty comfortable. There is a Mini fridge and microwave. It has air conditioning. They take big dogs. Supposed to be only too but they are pretty laid back and we went with the don't ask don't tell. Plenty of parking and there is a Cracker Barrel and Taco Bell right next door. We were able to make a reservation a day ahead with no problem and there are still empty rooms.

Noisy but pretty good for dogs

GrandStay Hotel and Suites

I would have given this a 5 but there is lots of construction going on right next to it. You have to go in through different businesses to reach the lot. Also, lots of construction people are staying here and work on their trucks in the morning. They also fill up the dining room early. No hot breakfast, just cereal, yogurt, fruit, granola bars, boiled eggs. The room and bath are normally sized. Water pressure is average, nice temp. Restaurant right next door but we didn't eat there. Mini fridge. We were on the second floor across from stairwell at end of building which worked great since we could avoid people with the dogs. Lots of other dogs but quiet all night. Plenty of parking on one side of the building. They seem pretty chill on dogs, didn't even look at reservation to see I had two and when I reminded them they were chill with it. We had booked just a few hours before arriving with no problem. Has air conditioning. Bed alittle soft but not bad. Decent wifi. Clean, dogs did not do alot of weird smelling of others marks. Fine with big dogs.

Good family place

La Quinta by Wyndham Rapid City

We arrived here after 7 during a very bad thunderstorm. The staff were nice. The facility was worn and dated and slightly not as clean as I like but it was not gross. If you have kids they will love the water park although they can't use it during storms. They have a nice area for dogs that is fenced with some fake grass and gravel so that you can just let your dogs off their leash. There are poop bags provided. There are lots of kids at this hotel but we were lucky and had parents who were responsible and kept their kids quiet. The breakfast is the normal stuff but certainly reasonable. There is a nice pizza place in the hotel as well as a Starbucks and bar. They give you a free drink coupon for a wine, well drink, or beer but make sure you check your receipt because my husband didn't and he paid for our pizza when I was upstairs and they charged him for his beer. The bathroom is a decent size but the water pressure is lacking somewhat. They were in the process of painting the interior of the hotel including rooms so there was a smell of paint but it was not bad. The parking is a little competitive because there's 3 different hotels there. There is also a Perkins restaurant in the lot. The elevators are a bit rickety but as long as you're not faint of heart you should be fine.

Great place to bring your dog

Louie's Restaurant and Bar

They have a large patio seating area in the back. You can walk around the back on either side or if u have a small dog walk through the restaurant. You have to wait to be seated. They offer you a bowl of water. Tables are reasonably far apart. We had a German Shepard and a Pekenese. They have a doggy menu that includes pork, chicken, beef, salmon, a hot dog and brown rice. We chose chicken and paid extra for cheese. They brought out a whole grilled chicken breast and shredded cheese in a dog bowl. Both loved dogs loved it and one is a picky eater. The menu for us was great and they have beer, cocktails, and boozy popsicles. Vegetarian, gluten free, and vegan menus available. Really enjoyed it. Dogs were happy and felt secure.

Wow!!!

Residence Inn by Marriott Coralville

This is the best place we have stayed all trip. The only slightly negative is they only designate two small strips of grass for pets but there is a super nice walking area across the street and empty lots all around. There poop bags are not always filled.
The place is 2 mins off i80, there is a train that goes by who honks through an intersection but while loud outside it's not too bad inside and we were on the end closest. The room is a studio, separate sink area, which is large, from shower and toilet which has a door so My husband can't stink me out while I brush my teeth. It is a king bed which is pretty comfortable. The best part about sleeping is it the air conditioner actually cools the room very nicely. There is a great little table right in front of the door that has plugs for your phone and places for your keys. It is very convenient. There is a small dining type table with 2 chairs a full refrigerator, a kitchen with dishes and pots, a dishwasher, A 2 burner stove and plates and silverware. Oh and a microwave. The couch is a wrap-around couch that seats 4 comfortably and has a coffee table with a footstool that fits underneath when not in use. There is also a desk area which is quite large and there's 2 different drawers as well as a good sized closet. This shower is hot and has decent pressure. We haven't had breakfast yet but I'm sure it's gonna be good. My husband loved that in the evenings they have free beer wine and soda and often have food trucks or a restaurant bring food in. There is a long horn steakhouse next door which is really nice. They have a small area with convenience type items you can purchase. I think the price is pretty decent and they only charged $25 for both dogs. I can see my dogs were very comfortable. Great breakfast with the norm and a lot more. Huge dining room with booths, big firepit area.

Good location

Banff Rocky Mountain Resort

It was a nice room, just an okay bed, kitchen, big windows, couch, coffee table. Smaller bathroom, pressure issues. Strict about dogs on furniture. Restaurant in main building. Right next to park, shuttle to town, town 8 mins away. Elk all over. Beautiful area. Clean.

Wow!!!

Holiday Inn Express Munising-Lakeview an IHG Hotel

A great room, clean, a sliding door to a nice area of grass with your own covered patio with chairs. Good view of lake. Good breakfast. Great for dogs. Nice employees. Only negative was unpicked up poop on grass, told staff and they were receptive.

Good for dogs

Holiday Inn Express Kamloops an IHG Hotel

We really enjoyed this place and it was nice that we did not get stuck in some pet room that stunk and had P spots. The dogs enjoyed it, it had a good breakfast, The bed was comfortable, it had places to walk the dogs, decent hot water. The only negative was at the air conditioner cool but not as much as we would have liked.
