Could not care less

I don’t know if the restaurant has new management or what has changed but our experience was mediocre at best. We went on a busy Friday night midsummer. It was hot and we had a table in the shade but we were surrounded by people.
We didn’t get any water or treats for the dogs and all the staff except for one nice waitress (not ours) acted like a dog had never entered the establishment.
Our waitress could not care less. She took drink orders and food orders at the same time and except for bringing the check, didn’t stop by our table after that. Even if we had not brought the dogs, I don’t think she would have improved.
The food was fine. I had the brisket with Mac and cheese and I’ve had better.
Take our advice and give this place a pass.

Clean but Old

The hotel is old but very clean. Super friendly staff! The rooms are air conditioned with wall units that just can’t keep up with the summer humidity. There is a distinct musty smell. Floors are laminate and we got a first floor room. When we checked in we were offered delicious cookies! But breakfast is fruit, individual packaged danishes, juice, and some cups of nuts, granola or trail mix. It was enough to get us going.
It’s within walking distance to the famous Wall Drug which also allows dogs and is close to the Badlands.
We couldn’t find a vending machine, but the gas station next door is well stocked and very friendly!

Great breakfast!

Beautiful hotel. We had a first floor room right by the door and guest laundry. As another reviewer stated, you have to sign a pet rules form but that’s fine. There’s a pet relief area outside with a pet waste bag station. The room was large and comfortable. But the best thing about this hotel was the amazing breakfast! Full yogurt bar, huge assortment of hot breakfast items, really great and the staff was on top of things.

A true three stars

The location of the hotel was ideal, right off the interstate, and Sheridan is a cute town with a Petco so a good stop for those traveling. As other reviews have stated, all pet rooms are on the third floor and are completely laminate flooring. There are carpeted stairs and a central elevator.

Pets are not allowed on the grass directly in front of the hotel and there is no pet waste bag station. There is a grassy area with a sidewalk by the street which is walkable. The hotel is on a cul de sac and there is construction at the end of the cul de sac.

The room is small and tired. Our sheets were clean and the beds were fine. The bathroom is very small and the toilet does not have a lid so if you have a dog that enjoys drinking out of the toilet you’ll have to close the bathroom door. The room was clean-ish. There were muddy paw stains on one of the bed covers and when wiping up water from the bathroom floor the towel was noticeably dirty.

We had a hiccup at check-in when they gave us a room with one queen bed instead of two, but management quickly fixed the issue when we showed our BringFido reservation. The complimentary breakfast was basic but enough to get us on the road. We also appreciated the guest laundry on the second floor, even though the cost was high - $3 for both the washer and dryer.

Got lucky with weather!

We were fortunate to visit on a July day where the temperatures didn’t get above 70. Dogs are not allowed on trails, which can be limiting if you want to take any of the short hikes. For us, it was fun to listen to the Guide Along audio tour and make the quick stops at the different view points. It was cool enough to leave our dogs in the car at most stops, but there was plenty of roadway and sidewalk to let them out if necessary. Is this park as dog friendly as some of the east coast parks? Nope. But understandable as we stopped several times to watch buffalo cross right in front of us!

Patio is updated!

We ate dinner on the newly renovated patio and it was a fantastic experience. The new patio is completely screened in and covered with large fans (which they are still trying to regulate). The menu is typical American Bar fare but the food was good. We didn’t try any drinks but they looked fun. We ate here on a Friday night and there was live music.

Great stop!

All the construction is done. The hotel is very clean and we had a room on the second floor right by the stairs down to the pet relief area. Good breakfast for the humans and a nice tile area in the room to set out the dog bowls.

Fun art tour!

This was a fun scenic drive! The art is really interesting to look at and we highly recommend the Talking Trail audio tour. This was great to do on a hot day and our dogs were also able to go into the gift shop in Regents after we inquired.

Great food! Lovely outdoor seating

Really enjoyed the pizza! The restaurant has a really nice “backyard” area with about five outdoor tables. And the ice cream and pup cups at the end were a sweet finish! Super friendly staff as well.

Hotel was serviceable. Well used, and a little shabby looking.
