A Blast from the Past!

The Mountaineer Inn

A kitschy old motel close enough to everything. We travel with our dog and stopped in Asheville to visit some breweries. The price was right and our dog was welcomed. We had a time worn room but it was neat and clean.

Covered patio!

Hattie B's Hot Chicken

We’re in Memphis on a rainy day and we’re hungry. We travel with our dog. Hattie B’s fills the bill… good hot Memphis chicken and a dog friendly, sheltered patio. We noticed they have roll down sides and heaters for when it’s cold. I recommend for good, quick, and easy. Oh, they have craft beers on tap, too.

It’s ok.

McAlister's Deli

The food was good, the service underwhelming. The best part is the covered patio because sometimes it rains when you’re traveling with your dog.

Great for dogs, but not for people

La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Chicago Willowbrook

We chose this hotel to visit family for the Christmas holiday. The hotel must be having issues with staffing as housekeeping was lacking. The staff that I did meet, including the front desk, seemed to be maintaining the bare minimum in service. It’s a no bone rating for humans. It’s a one bone for the dog because she loved all the new smells.

Good for beer and bringing your dog.

Daddy Billy's Restaurant & Bar

We’re always looking for local breweries but quite often the small breweries aren’t open during the week. We stopped here while visiting the area for a weekday lunch knowing they had beer and we could bring our dog. This place had multiple beers from local breweries on tap. Our server (I think she is the GM) was very knowledgeable about the beers and styles. Daddy Billy’s has a large outdoor, dog friendly space with more than half covered, in case it’s raining. The food was good, the beer was great, and everyone loved our pup.

Ok for an overnight. Nothing special

Wyndham Garden Lake Guntersville

We stayed one night and was underwhelmed. I guess expected more from a Wyndham Hotel. They have limited dog-friendly rooms so an assistant from BringFido had to call and make my reservation. The room was average and time worn with the faint scent of previous dogs. There was no special place to walk your dog for relief. The only grassy area was alongside the hotel on a big slope between a busy street and the lake. My tiny dog was not having it.
