Vintage Embassy Suites

Choose this location and hotel based on other 5 bone reviews. I guess us reviewers all have different tastes in hotel style and cleanliness “feel”. First the good, happy hour and bartender is generous with his wine pour, front desk is efficient and super welcoming, and yes there is an epic fenced Kentucky bluegrass dog park a few minutes walk (avoid the massive quantities of duck poo on the left side grass) heading that way. However, this hotel has NOT been updated inside since it was probably built. I can appreciate a vintage 1990’s Embassy Suites, the indoor garden area, dark woods, but in our room it equated to frayed carpet, stains and holes in/on the walls, a hardly functioning shower and the grand finale…an AC that wouldn’t cool beyond 77 degrees.

The wonderful front staff offered another room- but only had a queen (we are a king size family) and it was late and we didn’t want to move our stuff. So they brought us a box fan. Helped a bit, but we still slept covers off and uncomfortable (Lexington was 97 that day). Bed linens are nice and breakfast includes fresh made omelets. However be prepared to get charged for the internet and PARKING… in a basic parking lot which has lots of open space since they are located near business offices. For the high price of bringing Fido, we expected super clean rooms, as only a crazy dog lover would pay $100 for their pets overnight. Lucky for us, management comped some fees due to the AC issue and overall lack of attention to cleaning of the room.

A bit tired

Again, relied on my fellow fido reviewers and again disappointed. When you don’t sleep well (thin walls, can hear others TVs), and just overall feeling of this hotel really needs to be completely updated, would not stay again. The room was “clean,” but I still felt better putting my doggy travel blankets over all the sitting furniture. The staff (front desk) is very friendly, and they are trying to update with new paint in halls & newer hall carpet, but the improvements need to continue to the insides of the rooms, thankful I washed my hair at the prior nights hotel, as just a dribble. Full breakfast was nice, but the best thing besides the front desk had to be our super economical and DELICIOUS take out from Pasquales, Italian just minutes away. Grassy areas all around hotel, just not sure you want to walk all around the hotel.

Ah-MAZE-ing!

We stayed just last week (July 2021) and our king suite was a welcome reprieve from past hotels during our road tripping summer (we hotel in between summer home rentals). A bit unsure, since Findlay is not the biggest town, but this place was new, smelled clean, looked clean and the bedding was soooooo soft. Only drawback was we missed the happy hour. Based on other reviews, we requested a room furthest from the freeway (yes it’s close) and had the best nights sleep. Suite was super spacious and the grassy areas to walk the dogs was plentiful. Breakfast was typical fare, eggs, biscuits etc. The hansgroehe shower fixtures with superb water pressure let us know, we picked the right place. You will see the other hotel chains across the highway and think… hmmm maybe I should book over there. Don’t, plenty of space to walk the babies around the different fast food restaurants, but the traditional decor one associates with Drury might not seem as posh as all the grays of other hotels, but the quality and newness are a win for me everything time.

Super dog friendly

Our girls loved jumping from bed to bed, super high ceilings so we didn’t feel crowded and extra benches to set our luggage. Such a gorgeous historic feel at the hotel. Lots of parks (squares) to take dogs for bathroom breaks, but Savannah is a city foremost- and there was a church building behind the hotel so homeless congregate in the mornings. By afternoon can easily take dogs to the squares. There is a close & secure parking garage a block away and when departing just pull up behind the hotel for a quick pickup of your luggage. Free water and sodas and snack offerings for your pooch. Ground floor made for easy access to the grassy park across the street.
