Underwhelming and a bit depressing
Doggywood at DollywoodWe went to Dollywood largely because of Doggywood. It is nice the have kennels but really this is all it is -- kennels, aka large cages, in the back of the building. They are air-conditioned and they give your dog a bed and water. You have to go back during the day to walk your dog and given the size of the park that can be hard to do. The other dogs in at the same time were barking a lot and he didn't like it, I ended up just walking him once and leaving early because he was so resistant to going back in the cage after his walk. I couldn't take having to shove him in there a third time in one day. The staff was friendly but really all they do is check your dog in and out.
Dog-friendly, good food
Laughing Seed CafeYou can sit with your dog on the outer part of the patio. Another reviewer said they had to order inside but we had table service so perhaps that has changed? Good food if you are willing to eat vegetarian.
Most dog friendly staff I've seen
Carmel's Restaurant and BarWe didn't actually eat here but we were walking past and looking at the nearby arts vendors and multiple members of the restaurant staff came over to meet our dog and offer him treats. I wish we hadn't already had lunch or they certainly would have had our business.
Dogs welcome on trails only
Cradle of ForestryWe didn't have the best experience though that was partly weather-related. Your dog can go on the trails but you mist buy tickets inside which means one person has to wait with him outside (you can briefly walk through the building to get him there). Buying tickets is done through the gift shop which had a line so it took a while. When we got to the trail it was starting to rain and though an employee offered us umbrellas the thunder then set in so we had to abandon the enterprise. There are inside exhibits too but we couldn't take the dog in.
Friendly staff, nice artsy store
Appalachian Craft CenterThe employee welcomed our dog in right away and even said we could just let him lie on the floor if we wanted to rather than dragging him around (he is a basset hound). The merchandise is lovely handmade local stuff too.
Dog friendly and artsy shopping area
River Arts DistrictIn terms of dog-friendliness this area is a 5. There were a couple of stores which had no dog signs. In others we asked and were always told our dog could come in. Often he was warmly welcomed. My only complaint is that stores open late, often after 11am, even when their signs state otherwise.
Friendly staff, nice store
Mast General StoreAn employee offered us dog treats as soon as we walked in. The store is huge and the merchandise is nice and fun to look at.
