Interesting park!

Park Castel des Deux Rois

a fairly spacious dog park in comparison to others in Nice. there is the main Park area, a huge spacious lawn with plenty of activities and the gated dog area can be found by walking down a small path on two sides.
the actual park has very unusual landscaping, it's almost as though there are 4 "levels" of the park. Effie enjoyed jumping up and down them. Lots of trees and roots in the ground, and the floor is dirt, not grass.
The gate was pretty large, and some areas are a little more lifted off the ground than others. If you have a smaller/thinner dog, be wary of them fitting through the gate.
all in all, a good park for dogs to be off-leash in either the main area, or the gated area.

Only choice in Nice

Site de la Lanterne

very small, not super tidy, and clearly not maintained often — but we’ll take what we can get. for the only dog-friendly beach in Nice, there were about 3 other dogs there and it was packed with people.
we had a nice time regardless, but might have to take the car out to Menton or Fréjus next time we want to take the pup to the beach.

great hidden gem!

Carnolès Beach

happened upon it while walking around with Effie (43°45'54.9"N 7°29'16.7"E)
it is not a huge beach, but totally sufficient for a good time! there were plenty of other dogs there running after tennis balls and swimming all together.
there is a water release that goes into the sea with colder water (there was some algae in it but nothing major) so the running water with no waves was great for my puppy to get used to the water and surroundings.
highly recommend on a hot day!

not bad!

Batterie Russe Garden

given the lack of enclosed dog parks in the area, this is a good option to be able to get the pup off-leash and running around. not a huge area and not very well taken care of in terms of foliage overgrowth, but then again — better than nothing!
closes at 20h april-september
and at 18h october-march
