Fun Spot
Fox & Parrot TavernMost original and down-to-earth spot we found in the area during our week-long stay. It was slow and there was a chance of rain, so the owner let us choose to go outside or stay inside - with our dogs! This included our Bluetick, who is a rescue and barks quite a bit. The other patrons were all very sweet about our mouthy girl (and somewhat distracted by her Frenchie brother). Fantastic beer selection, great food (chicken pie and fish n chips), and staff that made us feel at home. Thank you for letting our Mabel get this experience under her belt - every little bit helps :) I hope things get easier in the area with enough folks willing to work and get through and beyond the increasing amount of tourists! 🤞🏻
Good Visit
Tom & Earl's Back Alley GrillThey were busy and appeared well run - they waited to seat us until they could actually attend to us (some big parties had been seated just before we arrived). As we waited at a nearby table outside the restaurant, the hostess brought out water for the pups, which was very sweet. The patio is small with a big awning, so you may not be protected from sun and you certainly will not be protected from the kind of rain they can get in these parts!
They offered us two different tables - one with the potential for more room for the pups to wander.
Our waitress was great (Anzhela with great nails!) and a nearby waitress was also sweet and pet our pups. The other patio server (waiter) seemed indifferent to the dogs. Folks around us seemed happy and entertained by the pups. Our dogs are generally quiet, except for the heavy breathing of our Frenchie and the occasional bawl of our bluetick. I can understand if more active or barking/whining dogs could be a problem on a small patio.
We would come back but I don’t know that we’ll brave Gatlinburg traffic or parking costs again. But the food was very yummy and they have a great selection of drinks!
Great food/space for pups :)
Owl CafeGreat oysters, good gumbo, yummy crab benedict! Head toward the water (down D street) and you’ll see stairs up the back of Owl Cafe - the door facing D street on the balcony is the hostess (so you never have to take dogs inside, though i don’t think anyone would be shocked if you did). Apalachicola is very dog friendly :)
Nice spot on the water :)
Blue Parrot Ocean Front CafeGood drinks, ok food. We have two dogs, so that’s always a bit more crowded but our dogs were more restricted than normal (to reliably stay out of the way). Bus boy was attentive to our pups, which was really sweet (server seemed indifferent/slow to bring water for pups). Super grateful to have a place on the beach to take our fur kids.
Pup friendly with good food
Swampy's Bar & GrilleLots of outdoor tables, on the river, great menu with lots of options.
