A mixed bag of mostly poor results.

La Quinta by Wyndham PCB Pier Park Area

I debated on rather to give this hotel a 1 or a 2, but looking at all the factors it really is a 1.
As far as dog friendly the staff did seem happy to meet my dog. Unfortunately, I dealt with what many other have when it comes to my dog. No place for the bathroom and sand spurs everywhere. No dog treats or bowls like at some other PCB hotels. No doggie bags available even though I brought my own. For the human side the staff was very friendly when they were sitting just outside taking a smoke break, which was pretty often. If you catch them behind the counter tho they are hostile and unwilling to help. I had to get the room keys programmed twice and never a sorry about that or further look into it. I just said what room I was in and they programmed the card, very unsafe. The hotel smelled like wet carpet and due to covid they won’t enter your rooms, so you have to find an employee to exchange towels. The room had dog hair in it before we got there and we found chocolate candy all over the floor. The pool is tiny and two families always kept it crowded. It’s pretty far from the main areas and not that great of a value. They beds were very comfortable, and there is no pet fee were the only positives.

Great spot for your pups

Dog Beach at Pier Park

Spent about an hour there walking with my dog talking with other dog owners and letting mine run around on her leash. Most dogs were not on a leash but well behaved which is fine by me. Never saw any poop and there are bags and trash cans available. Just an FYI many people had dogs all along the beach outside of this area. Nobody around to enforce the rule, but dogs shouldn’t be kept to one area anyway.

Dated and convenient

Boardwalk Beach Hotel

I was looking for a late minute deal in late January for a place on the beach that accepted big dogs. This place was one of the few, and the cheapest. I arrived and the lobby and could tell most of the structure was built decades ago. The receptionist checked me in and gave me a brief overview of the property. She was very nice and answered a few questions. When I went to park my car I was concerned as many employees were gathered in the parking lot smoking and talking. I went to my room which was technically beach front even though you couldn’t see the beach. They put all the dog people on the first floor, and there were many of us. Opening my door I was surprised by the bright paint and very clean room. Upon further inspection there was gaps in the wall and a two inch gap or so in the bottom of the door. Maybe that’s why the AC never could keep up. One of our beds had pee stains on the top sheet, and the other had dirty pillows so we mixed and matched to make a clean bed. When ready to get to the beach it’s no more than 20 feet from your room, which you can’t beat for the price. When I went to find the dog potty area I was confused why it was on the other side from where dog folks were being put. It was small but clean and did the job. No concerns with my neighbors until the second night some pot smoking kids kept being loud next door. There is no installation between rooms, so they were booked every other room until they showed up. If you are looking for a cheap beach front pet friendly room and don’t mind all the other BS, it’s a pretty good deal.
