The middle of Kansas is always a stopover when we’re traveling west and this is my new place. A little dated but the rooms are nicely furnished and clean. There’s a nice outside pool area and fire pits for gathering at night. We were given a ground floor room in the back where there is a huge area for dog walking. Probably at least an acre and a half. Easily the largest I’ve ever seen at a motel. They also have a great breakfast in the morning. Definitely worth 5 bones.

Nice hotel. Friendly people. Rooms were clean but smelled somewhat of naphtha or some cleaning fluid. Limited dog walking area covered with rocks but with places to walk nearby. Convenient area to Manitou Springs and shuttles.

It was fairly inexpensive but you kinda got what you paid for. A little run down. Rooms were dated but large. Breakfast limited. One thing that really bothered me was a dead deer right by the entrance that was left there at least a couple days and was still there when we left. If I’d seen it when I was checking in honestly I would have gone somewhere else. The dog walking area was right by it and the dogs kept wanting to go over to it.

Very nice motel at a good price. Good breakfast and good location. There’s a walking path next to the motel but the whole area is overrun with prairie dogs which while interesting are a little too interesting for the dogs. They would have loved to spend all day trying to dig them up. Would definitely stay again.

The rooms are nice enough but we were switched to a second floor room because the previous occupant had not paid but had not left and we only found out when we went to go in and he was there. The exterior was very run down with grass not mowed all summer and a sign that said pool was temporarily closed but was closed when we were there years ago and appeared to have not been open since. The mosquitoes were so bad. It was literally scary. It looked like the commercials where they stick their arm in a glass box and the mosquitoes swarm them. Was dreading walking the dogs in the middle of the night but luckily the temperature had dropped enough for the mosquitoes to become inactive. Have stayed before but it has gone downhill severely. Will never stay again.

Plenty of area to walk dogs. Very welcoming and a good breakfast with sausage and eggs.

Neat personal fenced outdoor patio on the lake to eat with the dogs outside the room.

Good food at a fair price. Great outside patio and the staff pampered and made over my two big mutts like they were royalty. Brought them a big tub of ice water and many employees stopped to pet them. Great experience. Make sure to stop if in Custer.

Great diner food. Lot of tables and room outside for the dogs under an awning. Service a little slow the only reason only 4 bones.

Giving them two bones because the staff was very friendly and welcoming to the dogs. That said the motel was in very poor condition overall. Middle of June and pool was still covered and didn’t look like it was even functional any longer. Fairly clean but mildew smell coming from window a/c unit. Had very poor and slow service at the restaurant at motel. Cannot recommend this as there are many other options in town.

Great food and a great selection. Nicely landscaped, decked and grassed area. Plenty of umbrellas and trees for shade. Friendly people. Definitely a five star plus for Fido!

very friendly staff. treats for the dogs. nice fenced outdoor area and delicious barbecue. Make sure and get the hush puppies. Best I’ve ever had!

Had stayed before and knew rooms were poor quality but with three dogs our options are limited. However on this stay a drunken barbecue was taking place outside one of the rooms and got progressively louder as parties got drunker until it reached a ridiculous state. No attempt was made by management to correct the problem. In the morning there was trash and beer cans everywhere outside.
Truly unbelievable.

In town for a dog competition. As everyone has said limited areas to potty dogs. Let us stay with three dogs was a plus. Vinyl floors a plus. No maid service a minus. Room just ok. Would stay again if I couldn’t find an alternative.
