Loved our stay!

Be aware that the nearby airport landing strip means that planes are coming in for a landing directly over the motel. This was not a deterrent for me, I loved it! I’d watch the planes come in for a landing while both my old dogs took forever to go to the bathroom on walks. The “noise” was comforting to me and great entertainment! The room was clean and comfortable. The parking was a little cramped, but doable with a 4Runner. Larger vehicles may have some trouble. All the staff was so friendly and accommodating. The only thing that somewhat annoyed me was the sound of the train horn in the early morning (but not the planes, go figure). Minutes from the beach and shopping. Was a great 2 day stay. I will return next time, was a positive experience.

Check room for hazards!

When I arrived I was super tired as were my dogs. Luckily they went right to sleep and the stay was great. In the morning I opened the curtains so I could gather all my items to return to Arizona and check out of the room. I noticed a small blue pill on the floor near the end of the bed, just next to it. I stupidly picked it up wondering what it was. When I googled what it was I was floored. A round blue pill with an M and 30 are OxyContin and if you read further there is a big influx of fake OxyContin with fentanyl.

This REALLY upset me because while I get that the hotel cannot stop people from doing shady things in their rooms but they CAN clean them properly and vacuum. They charge $20 per pet on top of the room fee. That should include a thorough vacuum. It appears to me that the vacuum they use does not get the walls and sides of the bed well. I don’t really care about crumbs on carpet, I’ve seen worse trust me, lol. However. I am not laughing when I realize my dog could have ingested this narcotic pill, fentanyl laced or not. Either way surely fatal.

I spoke with the front desk staff about it and he was very polite, but truly he did not seem to understand why I was bringing it up. “Oh, ok yes we will vacuum better.” A dog or child could die or get very ill (not to mention the threat to me for touching it if it had fentanyl). To be honest I cared more about the pets. Dogs randomly eat items on the floor. I would have been devastated if this had harmed my pet. The stay was great and I had no issues until the pill.

I do not think I’m overreacting, but hoping this housekeeping issue is addressed. I just am a little upset to have been put in that position and don’t want it to happen to anyone else. I don’t want to bash them. I just want them to realize why this is such a big deal. The front desk clerk threw the pill in the trash like that solved the issue. I am just hoping the feedback made it to the right people who vacuum and manage the tasks. Am I making a mountain out of a molehill? I just feel like we got really lucky that my dogs didn’t get that pill.

The room and location were great. Housekeeping, not so great against the walls and bed. Likely just needing a better vacuum to reach those areas. Had there been no pill incident, I would have loved to leave a 5-boner review. Had my pet or I suffered illness or death due to negligence to clean up a dangerous drug what would the review be? It’s a sad age we live in that these drugs are that plentiful, but a clean room would surely help alleviate that risk.

My go to Motel 6 in San Diego

I’ve been staying here for years and they’ve come a long way. The staff is so very nice and the room is clean. Can’t beat the food in the area too. I’m always treated well here and my dogs get to be a part of my trip. Yes some of the towel racks & fixtures are outdated but the linens and towels are clean so I can’t complain. Can’t say enough good things since they don’t have breed restrictions and size limits. This means a lot to me!

Best Motel 6 I’ve ever stayed in, hands down

I’m unsure why this location has no reviews! I was trying to make it to Bakersfield CA but all the reviews were negative so I hadn’t booked yet. I was going through Kingsburg and spotted a Motel 6 sign and exited spur of the moment. I saw no reviews so I looked on another booking site just to see what was said. They said staff was rude and some other things that almost scared me away. I was too exhausted to drive any further so I booked it through BringFido and took my chances. The front desk woman was super friendly and nice, we had a good conversation. I got to my room…it seriously was the nicest and best smelling Motel 6 room I’ve ever stayed in.

Newly remodeled and I felt like I hit the jackpot. Everything was clean and fresh. The only bad thing I can say was there was an Essensia water bottle and cap far under the desk (I don’t drink that brand, so it wasn’t mine) It was really hard to see so I can see how it was missed. Everything else was spotless, it was really great. In the morning I pulled a ding bat move and scraped my cargo box on the eave of their lobby but luckily I was going really slow and backed right up. No damage to my box and no damage to their eave (my box is very light and flimsy) The desk staff came out and made sure I did no damage and they were polite and friendly, I was so relieved. I have no idea why others left poor reviews, I found the night and day staff very pleasant! The motel is also in an EXCELLENT location, super quiet and no shady people (I’ve been to many Motel 6’s, you know what I mean) I cannot say enough good things about my stay. Best Motel 6 stay ever.
