Would stay here again!
Anchor Bay InnEverything near here was at least double or already booked! We pulled in around 11pm exhausted and relieved we found this place and they had a room available. The owner is amazing! She is very nice and LOVES dogs! She wanted to see pictures of my boy and we shared a few stories while filling out the paper work. She told me a guy stopped in a few nights ago and tried leaving his dog in his truck while he slept in the room. She told him the dog could NOT be left in the truck and if anything put the dog in the hotel and he could sleep in the truck. He told her it’s just a dog, idk what the big deal is. She told him she would kick him out if the dog stayed in the truck! 😍 this is my kind of lady!!
Anyways, the room was great for one night. Easy access right off 101. Bed was comfy. Nice dog area to the side with a dumpster. Room didn’t have ac and but the owner had a fan in the room running when we got there so if felt great. (We are cold sleepers! My house is 62-64 degrees year round.) it was definitely not the holiday inn but it was perfect and way more dog friendly. Had microwave, fridge, tv and a shower that was a little run down but exactly what we needed to wash off the beaches and salt from the day.
Best rest of our trip
Sonesta Essential Vacaville Napa ValleyWe stayed here our last night of the road trip along the coast. Hands down the best night sleep we got. The room was so comfy and they let us check in early since we had been driving all night. They have dog bones at the counter for your pets and the dog relief section is actually grass, not weeds or sand like a lot of the others we stayed at. The free breakfast was yummy. 10/10
Okay
Winners Inn CasinoThis hotel was okay considering the other options. The pet relief area was on the side of the building with no lights and kind of sketchy. We picked up several pieces of broken glass. The shower was gross and we wouldn’t have used it had we not needed to. Since we showered, and there was no fan our room was extremely hot. The ac unit was not very strong so we waited several hours before we could fall asleep. If you HAVE to stay in Winnemucca this seemed like the beat friendly option. If you can make it to the next town, you’d be better off.
Fun hike
Silver Falls State ParkWe enjoyed the hike for dogs! The map shows that pets are allowed on all of the trails except the Canyon Trail sections which are on the outskirts. We did the run trail and parked at the south falls and hiked to the upper north falls. It took about 3hrs total and we happened to go during the “triple digit heat wave 🥵”. Bring plenty of water for you and Fido. Would do this hike again. If you want it shorter you could park at the North Falls trail head and it would only be about 30 min round trip.
