Good place to stay overnight

Overall the hotel itself is great. It is an older and smaller building but in good condition and very clean. I didn’t see a spot that was assigned to walk dogs but to be honest I never walked around to the very back of the hotel. The bed was comfy and had ample blankets and pillows. There are several small stretches of grass to potty dogs up front, just have poop bags on hand. The parking lot was small but we had no trouble getting a good spot. It was also very well lit. We stayed Friday through Monday AM.

They have a very good breakfast and it smells very good in the whole hotel. We were on the 2nd floor and had no issues having extended waits for elevators or trying to get a luggage cart. The only trouble we had was Sunday night our next door neighbor apparently was having a dispute with someone on the phone. He got very loud and was slamming doors and screaming at the top of his lungs Into the phone . He even went out into the parking lot several times and continued out there.

This went on well over an hour. My husband finally got aggravated and called the front desk. They came up immediately and knocked on the guys door and let him know he was being a nuisance. He never went to the door that we could tell but he at least quieted down. We appreciate how fast they came up after we called.

So beautiful and Peaceful

We stopped by here traveling through to Texas. The grounds are simply stunning ! The dogs of course are not allowed in the actual house or smaller buildings but there was still plenty to see. We walked about the grounds. Most of the smaller buildings you can walk up to and look inside . The air smells so good here , I’m guessing from all the flowers and magnolia trees. There are several restrooms on site and they were very clean and smelled clean, despite being older. The staff at the ticket office were so friendly and answered all of our questions. We came super early so it was very quiet and peaceful . The trees spanning the drive up to the house are amazing. I also could not get enough of the Spanish moss and the fountains/statues. There are also several picnic areas as well to enjoy. There are no potty stations for dogs so definitely have potty bags on hand

Beautiful and Peaceful

We stopped here on our way through to Texas from Kentucky . The cemetery was incredibly peaceful , even with there being busy roads nearby . We spent quite a bit of time just walking up and down the aisles admiring the beautiful artistry and loving sentiments that people left for their love ones. You will be amazed at some of the tombs . I also found out after the fact that famed novelist Anne Rice is interred here as well ❤️ while we were walking with our dogs , a vehicle drove through letting their dogs hang their heads out the window and bark nonstop. I found that very disrespectful And reasons like that are why most places choose to not be dog friendly . There are ample trash cans located among the aisles but be sure to have your own poop bags on hand . Would definitely love to come back again.

Very nice hotel

We stayed here overnight on our way through to Texas . Immediately upon entering the hotel we noticed how nice it smelled . It looked very bright and clean as well . The room was clean and spacious . Plenty of power outlets to charge our devices . There is also a seafood restaurant (Fiery Crab) directly next door . If you love hot water that will scald the skin clean off you , this is the place . We have stayed at a ton of hotels and this one had by far the hottest water so far . There are ample grass areas to walk your dog in and several trash bins nearby. Definitely a nice place to stay when passing through

Would stay again

Rooms were very large! Bed was comfortable with big fluffy pillows. The room was clean and there were plenty of parking spaces around the building. There are lots of opportunities for food close by, as well as a tractor supply next door. There is a small grass area designated for dogs with a poop bag dispenser (it was empty though) and a trash can. If it’s busy over there, there are plenty of other strips of grass around the parking area to walk them.

Take your time!

The hike is a great little two mile loop . It is mostly flat with a very small hill to climb upward at first . There are several short flights of steps to step down off of. The trail is well marked and clear. It was pretty chilly when we went early morning so we didn’t see any snakes. I feel like we probably missed a bunch of petroglyphs at first because I was expecting signs around them. In certain areas you’ll see educational signs near the fence describing the history. Be sure to take your time and look all over ! Some are close to the fence , others are scattered up the hill . I would definitely take water as I can see this hike getting hottttt later in the day . There is a bench at the back of the property if someone needs a rest . You can either turn around and walk back along the volcano rock wall or walk to rest of the exit loop . You’ll end up back at the parking lot both ways . Can’t wait to come again and do another trail

Had pros and cons

We stayed here with 2 dogs. We were pleased with the fenced in potty area (there are goathead stickers in other open areas so I was happy to have somewhere safe for my dog’s paws). It was clean and well maintained. There are a few choices for food either directly next door, on DoorDash, or within walking distance. The room was large and clean, especially the bathroom. Lots of hot water and good water pressure.

My cons really didn’t have much to do with the hotel itself, but we had some loud upstairs and same floor neighbors. There were several people with disruptive dogs, and there are train tracks directly across the street so just be ready for trains all hours of the night along with loud neighbors. I’m more upset with my fellow travelers. The hotel is great for an overnight stay.

Great spot to grab lunch with your dog

we stopped here for lunch after a long hike. It was perfect ! The patio was covered and very comfortable. It was kinda narrow so if your dog is weird about space you might want to sit this one out. The staff was very friendly . We got an order of their cheese bread and a pizza with allll the toppings. Both were very delicious . Would happily eat here again

Fantastic place for lunch !!

They have a spacious patio that is dog friendly . It’s even covered so there is adequate shade. It’s located next to a fountain so it was a nice ambience . The staff was super friendly . They brought our dogs water and even told us about their dog menu. Our dogs ended up getting a plain beef patty each. The food and drinks were phenomenal. I got a shrimp and snow crab seafood boil and my husband who has the palette of a toddler got chicken tenders and fries. Will definitely eat here again and highly recommend!!

Good for a quiet overnight stay

We stayed here overnight while traveling through to Phoenix. The room was clean but a little bit outdated. The bed was comfy and we had good water pressure . We received a first floor room at the end of the hall so it was easy in and out with the dogs. The hotel was pretty peaceful. There is a small area of turf for the dogs to potty on. Not the best for large dogs but it got the job done. The poop bag dispenser was empty so other people hadn’t picked up their dog’s poops. I’d have a couple bags on you just in case. There are several restaurants within a very short walking distance.

Good for a quick stay

We stayed here overnight with two large dogs. The room was clean and the bed was pretty comfortable. There are plenty of places nearby to get food at. My only two complaints were there is not much space at all to walk larger dogs to go potty (no grass area at all) and they didn’t have any hot water at 5am when we got up to leave. They were working on it when my husband said something. This place isn’t bad and would stay here again.

Nice place to stop

We stayed overnight with 2 large dogs. The room was clean and nice. The staff was friendly and we had a great night’s sleep. My favorite thing was the water pressure in the shower. We travel quite a bit and this hotel has by far the best water pressure I have ever experienced. I could have pressure washed my truck in the shower and I love that! There are several small grass areas to walk your dog in, enough for a quick potty break. The potty bag box was empty and some people hadn’t been picking up their dog’s poop but otherwise we had a fantastic stay. Would definitely stay there again.

Absolutely breathtaking!!

We took both our dogs to see this as it’s been a dream of mine for a while now. There is ample parking and plenty of trash can around to dispose of poop bags. The rest rooms were kind of like an outhouse inside a concrete building so that was kind of odd but if you go in there expecting that , it’s no big deal .
The main view platform has nice safety railing if you are terrified of heights like I am, but there are plenty of other rocks along the rim to get a good view. You have a fairly short and flat well graveled walking trail to get to it , so wear comfy shoes. I think there was one spot mid way to rest if need be. It was pretty busy when we went but still got a very good view . Highly highly highly recommend!

AMAZING Place For Pups

We stayed here for a week for Dock Dogs World Championships. The suite we got was very spacious and clean. It was so nice to have a stove/fridge/microwave in our room to cook our own meals. Staff were very friendly. Poop bags/trash cans readily available. There isn’t a ton of grass areas around the actual hotel but enough for a quick pee/poop break and plenty of larger areas to walk to within a very short distance. There is also a beautiful riverfront walk close by. There are a few places with pet friendly patios to grab a meal with your pup (we ate at 7 Hills directly next to the hotel and the food was SO good).

Our only tiny complaint was the hot water. It got VERY hot which was amazing, but didn’t seem to last long. I will say the hotel was very full when we stayed there so it was probably just super high demand. Will definitely be staying here again!

Very interesting tour ! Highly recommend!

We took a dog friendly tour that went on 4 levels of the building and some of the grounds. The staff was very friendly to the dogs, and one even had cookies for dogs. There are several flights of steps to climb , so be aware if you have elderly dogs that may have issues. There are plentiful places for potty breaks for dogs. You are allowed to take pictures but no audio or videoing is allowed. There is so much to see and learn about.

Good place to stop

Stopped here on way through to KY. Older hotel but clean. Room with king bed was very spacious. Bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly. Has several grass areas to walk dogs. I didn’t see any poop bag stations but we arrived in the dark and left super early. There is a gas station and several options for a quick meal nearby (Subway and McDonald’s ). Great place to stop especially if you are dead tired and just want a hot shower and a clean comfy bed.

Good spot to stretch your legs

We stopped here to let the dogs potty and stretch their legs . Cute but small area. A few nice spots for pics . I’m giving it 3 bones because it did smell pretty bad here ( trash can/dumpster was pretty full , also a dead animal smell ) . There is grass to take the dogs potty and there is some shady areas .

Great place to stay

Very clean and new - staff very dog friendly. Ample areas to walk dogs for potty breaks - gave us a room on 1st floor near exit door for easy potty breaks . Lots of options for food near by. Pretty quiet location - a train does go by occasionally but not loud

Nicest La Quinta we’ve stayed at so far

Great location with lots of options for food near by, pretty quiet location. Rooms were very clean , bed and pillows were comfortable. Everything looked new.
Staff was friendly . Small grassy areas around building to walk your dog. My only complaint is it seems like a lot of other people do not pick up after their dogs but that’s not the hotel’s issue . I did not see a potty bag or poop station but we carry our own bags so not an issue. Will definitely stay here again

Very nice and clean!

We stayed overnight on a road trip out to Arizona. Staff was apologetic as they did not have a room available on 1st or 2nd floor for the dogs. Hotel rooms were very clean, as well as the facility. Several decent sized areas for dogs to potty. They give you a tag to put on your door so staff knows dogs are in there. Hot, hot, hotttttt water in the shower🙌. My one complaint was our room was right next to the expressway so vehicles were kinda loud but it’s barely a complaint. Staff was very friendly and personable.

Awesome place for well behaved dogs

I agree with all the other reviews.. very nice place to visit . The dogs aren’t allowed in with the gift shop. lorakeets ,kangaroos and petting zoo ( for obvious reasons) but the cave tour is awesome . Most of the other animals were Inquisitive and came over to the fence to look at us. They do have multiple dogs that live there and free range but most ignored us.
