Super Pet Friendly

While traveling to visit some friends, I stopped here for the night with my pup. They were very kind as we were checking in, and gave us a treat pouch and some information about dog-friendly options in the area. Would stay here again!

A Nice Picnic Stop to Explore

We decided to visit on a whim as we all needed to get out of the house, so we packed up the car and took to Chippokes. The park was big and spacious, but there are fewer trails than most other Virginia State Parks, and some walking paths were closed due to erosion. If you're looking for a place to take in a picnic with a view of the river, this is the spot!

2 Fenced Dog Parks and a Paved Trail

Recently took my dog here to stretch our legs. There's a fenced dog park section back by the volleyball field, one side for larger dogs and the other side for smaller dogs. Relatively clean and supplied with bags and trash containers, though you'll need to bring some water for your four-pawed friend. The paved trail around the park is a nice ~1/2 mile for the days when you need an on-leash adventure.

Patio Seating

Great set of 3-4 patio tables where dogs can join your party for a meal after you’ve picked up food/drink/supplies inside. Note, signage asks users to not leave dogs unattended on the patio.

Easy Walk in the Woods

Brought our doggo with us to the park today and the Rangers were kind in saying hi and giving him treats. Definitely a bit buggy, so bring your bug spray!

Great Outdoor Seating

Able to find outdoor seating with space for my doggo on a Friday with nice weather after a bit of a wait. Highly recommend!

Nice rocky walk

This is a great leashed location to bring doggos who aren’t afraid of climbing some smaller rock steps. Gets a bit muddy/puddly after the rain, so prepare accordingly.
