Book the Quality Inn next door

Wow, where to begin. The website of this Days Inn on Carpenter Road is more than deceptive. They ask to excuse the mess due remodeling but the general state of the place would require a restoration or a demolition and do over. The plumbing was horrendous, super slow drains, the toilet let out a terrible shriek while the water was refilling. The flush handle had to be manually moved or the shrieking would continue indefinitely. The actual mattress looked like it had been salvaged. Free breakfast included vending machine quality danish and coffee that tasted like it was brewed at 4AM and then burned.

I didn't have to courage to seek out the "indoor pool". Broken fixtures, missing molding on the walls. The AC unit was probably last cleaned during the Eisenhower administration. Security was a concern since none of the outside access doors locked. We didn't stay at the Quality Inn next door but I can assume from general appearances it has to be a much better experience. On the plus side there was no visible mold, the room appeared clean, and there is a Red Lobster and Bob Evens within walking distance. That said, if there is such a thing as a negative bones rating I would award a solid -3.

Best Place on Our Trip

A bit more to pay for but a great place in every respect. Super clean and updated, fantastic bed and pillows. Had a couch to sit on and our dog used for a bed. Staff available at breakfast to offer meal options. No restrictions on bringing food back to the room. Grass areas in the back and sides. Very quiet. Great walking parks located close by.

Red Roof Inn is the best for the money

Great staff, place is very clean and updated, super big lawn area in front of the hotel, very well lit. Fantastic bed and the best shower of the trip. Breakfast area is limited and they ask that you don't take any food back to the room but plenty of other eating options in the area.

Don't be fooled by the pictures

Repairs and painting in the room done by Mr. Not So Handy. We were afraid to turn the heater on because it was so filthy. Only nice feature - the first floor rooms have a small porch looking out on a large lawn in the back. Recommend you bypass Canton and head on down the road.

Comfortable and Affordable

Clean comfortable room, very nice bed, sufficient grass areas around the hotel. Located close to the interstate. I would definitely recommend Comfort Suites for anyone traveling through Spartanburg.
