My pup and I had a great morning here while my kids were at the Bronx Zoo. But note: The fenced dog run is minuscule. I am sure it is a welcome resource for local pets, but not worth a travel. That being said, I spoke with regulars there and the NYC Parks leash laws are very laid back there. If your dog has a SOLID recall and is able to respect distance for other leashed pups you should be ok to roam off leash. We did two loops of the park off leash on a brisk FEB day and there were no issues. There is bay water access, but tons of glass in the sand. I would not recommend more than a quiet dip for a pup
