Gitchi Gami State Trail

Gitchi Gami State Trail is a dog-friendly 89-mile paved route between Two Harbors and Grand Marais in Minnesota. Snaking alongside Lake Superior's beautiful and historic North Shore, the trail is being completed in several short segments and is already proving popular with both cyclist and hikers. The longest section to be developed extends 17.6 miles from Gooseberry Falls State Park to Silver Bay and leads hikers through both urban and natural environments. The trail begins at Gooseberry Falls State Park and continues northeast through Iona’s Beach Scientific and Natural Area and Split Rock Lighthouse State Park before entering Beaver Bay and Silver Bay. This segment offers breathtaking views of the park’s multiple waterfalls, and an expansive vista of the Lake Superior shoreline.
