Dog-Friendly Activities Near AUG Airport

Vaughan Woods is a pet-friendly nature preserve in Hallowell, ME. Bring Fido along for a walk outside on the Corniche Loop Trail, Brook Trail, or Rice Pines Trail, varying in difficulty and distances from 0.5 miles to 2 miles. Dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after.

Bring Fido out for a day at Augusta Dog Park, an off-leash area donated by The Rotary Club of Augusta ME. The fully fenced green space allows your pup to run, play, and socialize with other dogs! It is located at Mill Park, on the north end of Water Street. Amenities include free parking, picnic tables, kiddie pools, water access, and waste stations.

The Kennebec River Rail Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Hallowell! The map below shows a parking area with convenient access to the Kennebec River Rail Trail.
