Dog-Friendly Activities Near YGG Airport

Salt Spring Island has fabulous pet friendly beaches to stroll and beach comb. Ocean swimming for dogs and great long beach strips for throwing sticks and running in the sand together.

Duck Creek is doggie (and people) heaven. It is a very large and completely natural off leash park that people enjoy just as much as their dog. It consists of several acres of an easy hike which can be done in a 1/2 hour or so loop through woods and meadows. A wooded trail meanders along a year round creek which runs fast in winter and slow in summer for dog swimming. There is also an open meadow to play ball or frisbee or chase the dog, and grassy areas under big shade trees to have a picnic if you dare -- doggies will almost always join in! It is paradise year round for dogs and dog owners alike.

Salt Spring has incredible hiking trails that are dog friendly. Three of our hikes take you and your dog up to mountain summits with spectacular views over the Southern Gulf Island of British Columbia in Canada. Trails vary from Easy short hikes in beautiful rainforests and along country road trails to moderate hikes through groves of Arbutus, Garry Oak and Popular trees to difficult hikes up rock and root laden paths up our mountains.

Salt Spring Beaches provides numerous opportunities for pet-friendly outings with your pup on Salt Spring Island, BC. Leashed dogs are permitted at Zach Beach, Hudson Point Beach, Jack Foster Beach East and certain Ruckle Provincial Park Beaches sections. However, please be aware that dogs are restricted from large areas within Ruckle Provincial Park. During the off-season, your furry friend is allowed off-leash at Hudson Point Beach.
