The Fort Dodge Nature Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Wishful Acres Farm & Brewery in Lena, IL, is a pet-friendly destination where your leashed dog can join you in the outdoor, grass-covered beer garden during the warmer months. They brew a rotating selection of craft beers in their barn brewery, many of which feature ingredients grown on the farm. In addition to their unique brews, you'll find a small variety of snacks and occasional food trucks to enjoy.

Dogs are allowed to join their owners at Brushy Creek State Recreation Area in Lehigh, IA. At over 6,000 acres in size, this pet-friendly park is one of Iowa's largest recreational areas. The centerpiece to the park is a 690-acre lake, popular among boaters and anglers. There are 45 miles of multi-use trails and a 12-mile gravel trail surrounding the lake. Dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after during their visit.

Leashed dogs are welcome to enjoy a hike at pet-friendly Dolliver Memorial State Park. Located on the Des Moines River in Lehigh, IA, the park features high bluffs and deep ravines to explore with your pooch. One of the main trails in the park will take you out past the Copperas Beds sandstone formations, up into oak covered hillsides, and back down past Bone Yard Hollow.

Fido is invited to play at Sketchley's Dog Park in Webster City, IA. This park features a single off-leash area with one entrance, welcoming dogs of all sizes. Inside, you'll find eight tunnels for Fido to explore and two fire hydrants for some added fun. Please note that no water, shelter or electrical amenities are available on site.
