Sections of the Paulinskill Natural Trail and the Sussex Branch Trail, constructed atop two former railroads, can be accessed from the park. You might even see a musher and his dogsled team running down the trail. Unfortunately, pets are not permitted to stay overnight in any of the facilities.

Appalachian Trail (Harriman State Park)
The Appalachian Trail in Harriman State Park in Monroe, NY, is a difficult 11.15-mile hike that will take about 8.5 hours or overnight to complete with Fido. This pet-friendly path is possibly one of the most challenging hikes on the Appalachian Trail but also the most beautiful. Dogs must remain on a leash, and if you choose to camp, you can set up at the Wildcat Shelter, which is 2.1 miles into the hike.
