Dog-Friendly Activities in Leesburg, AL

Little River Canyon National Preserve provides visitors with abundant outdoor recreational opportunities in Fort Payne, AL. The park is pet friendly, but be sure to keep Fido leashed at all times. Noccalula Falls Park, located in Gadsden, AL, is home to a beautiful waterfall with dog-friendly trails through Black Creek Gorge. Over five miles of paved walking trails wind through the park proper starting at the Admissions Pavilion. Visitors can also enjoy the Black Creek Trail - a 1.7-mile crushed stone path that leads down from Noccalula Falls campground to Black Creek Road. The trail starts at Noccalula Falls Wedding Chapel.

Bark Park is located behind the Gadsden Mall in Gadsden, AL, just inside the entrance to the James D. Martin Wildlife Park. The Bark Park is designed to allow pups to exercise and play off-leash; and there are different areas set aside for large dogs and small dogs. Each park has water facilities for the dogs, and seating for their humans.

The Chief Ladiga Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Piedmont! The map below shows a parking area with convenient access to the Chief Ladiga Trail.
