There are a number of picnic areas to enjoy on the island as well.

Green Mountain Scenic Overlook and Trailhead is pet-friendly. This small county park is located a short distance west of Lake Apopka and offers the highest elevations in Central Florida, provding a sweeping panorama of the lake and Florida’s longest set of trail switchbacks. The trail can be accessed every day of the week from 7am to 8pm.

Fido can play off-leash at Ronald Sefton Gaffney Memorial Park Dog Park in Groveland, FL. The park is fenced and has separate sections for large and small dogs. Humans can enjoy the shade of the trees and relax on one of the benches while dogs play together and get some exercise. If Fido still has some energy you can explore the pet-friendly walking trail through the larger park. Remember to leash your dog outside of the dog park.

Blue Spring State Park is a pet-friendly recreation area in Orange City, FL. Bring your leashed pup with you while you stroll the Boardwalk Trail or unpaved Pine Island and Campground trails. The park features lush tropical trees and crystal blue waters, where you can discover manatees and other wildlife. Pets are also welcome in the camping area if you want to stay overnight.
