Dog Friendly Hiking Trails in Fawnskin, CA

Grays Peak Trail is a moderately easy, 6.4-mile, out-and-back hike in Fawnskin, CA. This dog-friendly trail is located within the San Bernardino National Forest and will take about 3.5 hours to complete with Fido. This trail is on the north side of the lake and will actually lead you to the backside of the mountain where water views disappear. However, losing the view of the water is worth the peace, quiet, and open vistas that take its place. This area is subject to closure due to habitat protection. Since this trailhead is within the bald eagle habitat, it's closed during the nesting season from winter to spring, sometimes extending into summer.

Alpine Pedal Path is a dog-friendly 3.2-mile (one-way) asphalt trail in Big Bear Lake, CA. This path is a great place for morning jogs, bike rides, and leisurely walks with Fido! It boasts fresh air and beautiful scenery along the way. The path has access points that lead to the lake and various beaches.

Wildwood Canyon Park is a dog-friendly park in Yucaipa, CA. Located high above the hills of Yucaipa, Wildwood Canyon provides panoramic views of the stunning hills and valleys in the area. The area is covered in old oak wooded areas and broad grasslands. Fido can join you on all of the trails at the park, but they must be on a leash under six feet. Pet owners are also reminded to stay on the designated trails and to pick up after their pet to maintain the cleanliness of the area.

This hike will take you through the area where the final battle with the Old Fire of 2003 took place. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. This trail begins just behind the North Shore Campground on Hospital Road off of Highway 173.

Within the half mile after crossing Mill Creek, you will gain 1000 feet in elevation as you switchback into the San Gorgonio Wilderness.

Kitching Peak Trail is a difficult, 8-mile dog-friendly hike in Banning, CA. Located within the San Bernardino National Forest, this hike will take about 5 hours to complete with Fido. From the top of this trail you will see spectacular views of the mountains, drop-offs, and desert floor. It's advised to double-check with a San Bernardino National Forest ranger about any trail closures.

This trail is known to be extremely difficult, 12.2-mile hike in San Bernardino National Forest that will take about 7.5 hours to complete with Fido. Heading into the San Gorgonio Wilderness and getting to the San Bernardino Divide is difficult on any trail. Even the most conditioned dogs will struggle on this trail. There are two springs on this trail, but you will want to bring extra water along and check your dogs paws often.

This hike is known to be a very difficult, 11-mile hike in San Bernardino National Forest that will take about 6.5 hours to complete with Fido. This trail is easily accessible and has a large parking lot. The creek flows heavy in spring and early summer, but dries later in the year. If there has been heavy rainfall you are likely to see many wild flowers.
